You know, not that red bandy.

Just came back from seeing the film. I think it was a worthy successor to the franchise (certainly it put the AVP film franchise in the dust where it belongs). Yes there were some overly recognisable story beats from the 1st movie -- and amusingly enough from Aliens -- but I think they were by and large forgivable (except the "kill me" one; nothing that unsubtly stolen is forgivable). The twist concerning the Predators themselves was interesting.

I enjoyed it myself, and am willing to forgive the "kill me" stealing.  My only real annoyance is:

Which isn't much of a gripe anyway.  I would have liked some of the creatures to get some more screen time too, just because they were pretty cool.  I also digged most of the references to Predator, and would watch a sequel, as long as it isn't too contrived.

Definately, on both points.  I know a sequels been effectively announced, I just hope it isn't a direct sequel [though film producers do have a history of bring my worst fears to the screen].

I think I recall Rodriguez saying something to the effect that it won't be a direct sequel. He also added "I think people would like to see me do 'Sin City 2' first."

I saw Inception earlier today, and if you haven't seen it yet what's your excuse?  Seriously, go see it now.  Drop what you are doing, and go.  It's ok, I'll wait...  I had extremely high expectations, and wasn't let down in the slightest.

Anyone else super stoked that Guillermo Del Toro's next film is At the Mountains of Madness?  I'm also interested that it has James Cameron as producer, because the man can do special effects and has a borderline endless budget.  I just hope Del Toro can make the film as he wants - he's mentioned before that he wants it to be a gritty R rated horror film, a true adaptation of Lovecraft's work.

I'm liking the look and feel of Thor.
