I still think that the best part of Iron Man 1 was Tony's home office, with the jukebox and stuff. That's what I'm slowly building towards. Tongue

I really didn't care for Alice. Despite a great cast and pedigree, most of the re-envisioning was uninspired and the whole affair just felt... lifeless. Plus, no new Tron: Legacy trailer, which was half the reason I was there! Sad

"Lifeless". I like that description. I napped early in the film and my youngest (the second biggest Burton fan in the house) slept through most of it. I thought it was a bit below the bar in regards to Burton movies, although Helena Boham Carter was a delight, I think I could have watched a whole movie with her and Anne Hathaway. In fact, it probably would have been better to have the movie about both queens trying to contend with some upstart like Alice.

I placed an unreasonable expectation on the movie after reading the Looking Glass Wars series. I should have known that even in all of Burton's greatness, unless he had adapted that series, it would never had been as good.

Obviously I need to go hunt up the Looking Glass Wars.

The script was far and away the weakest portion of the enterprise.  I feel Mr. Burton was let down by the screenplay writer.  Though I would like to find out who gave the Hatter a kilt and a claymore and get them a nice dram.   Cheesy

c) will be in 3D

Am I the only one who is sick of this?  Every 3D movie I've seen so far gives me a headache, and I find that it doesn't look as crisp as 2D.  Not to mention that its $20 for a ticket here, which is rediculous.  Now everything is released in 3D.

I'm refusing to go even see anything in 3D, just on principle. Very close to boycoting 3D movies in all their forms, including 2D screenings, like I did with Avatar. I admit I'm going to check out the 3D episode on the 2nd season BD set of Chuck, but that's as far as I'm going to bend my principles.

Okay.. this may have already been answered in the thread... and I missed it.. but.. what principle are you boycotting 3D on?

I think it's a stupid gimmick being currently rammed down my throat, an excuse to jack up the ticket prices even further and start pushing "3d compatible TVs". Something I'd like to disappear as fast as possible and the best way I can contribute towards is by not paying a dime for anything associated with it. Smiley

+ the 3D stuff doesn't make me feel too good, either. Tongue

Migranes for me.  Don't know why, but 90% of all 3D films give me migranes, "magic eye" images too [I can see them fine].  I also agree with Nepenthe that it's a stupid gimmick that's being forcefed to us in the interest of jacking up already over inflated prices.

Alot of films that include it also have forced camera angles or stupid sequences to show that its 3D, and said sequences are often jarring, especially if the film maker has a particular shooting style that suddenly changes in the interest of showing stuff going towards the audience.

Ah!  Okay.  I wasn't sure if there was some expose on some outlandish practice in 3D movies that had everyone outraged.  Like.. ..umm... baby bunnies being forced to work 60 hours a week as riggers... or.. such.  Been out of circulation for a little bit.. so.. just wanted to make sure I didn't miss anything.

You know, though, you make a great point on the cost.  Imagine if Hollywood worked like the NFL.  Salary caps and what not.  Max salary of a 'star' is like.. 2 million per year.  I wonder how that'd effect the cost of tix...

Not much. If people are paying X dollars on the average for a ticket, even if the costs go down, the ticket price remains the same.

The NFL doesn't have a salary cap this season, and the talks are being dragged out by the owners and players' union for the contracts for next season.

Personally, I'm a big fan of the 3D and when I was in charge of the Film Committee for the Student Activities Board in college we brought in "Creature From the Black Lagoon" in 3D and it was one of our biggest draws that year. I don't like gimmick 3D (like slasher films), but I think it does bring an added element to the story. Unfortunately, it couldn't save "Alice in Wonderland".

First look at the Black Widow & Nick Fury figures from Iron Man 2 toy range

Speaking of which, when they do hit the shelves I'd really appreciate it if someone over in the US could do me a solid and pick up one of the Black Widow figures because they tend to critically under order female figures here in Australia, if they order them at all.
