Oh my stars and garters, when did they start doing remakes of the St. Trinian's movies? I think the original movies were, ummm, more overt than the remakes.

The Auld Grump, the 1950s were not entirely wholesome and good for you. Tongue

And they weren't meant to be for younger audiences, either Wink

I don't know about you, but I liked the remake. It was fun, had a cheeky side, and had a pretty good cast (including a Bond girl, a Pirelli calendar model, and 'Juliet' from Hot Fuzz.

It looks so good that I need to watch Wall Street, now. I'd successfully managed to avoid that movie... until now.

(James Franco might have been a better choice than Shia, though)

Miramax Films, 1979 - 2010

Quote
The writing was on the wall when Disney made this announcement, but The Wrap is reporting that today the studio will be closing the New York and Los Angeles offices of Miramax Films and 80 people will lose their jobs.

The site says that six movies awaiting distribution, including Last Night, The Debt and The Tempest, will be shelved or get a tepid release.

Founded in 1979 by Bob and Harvey Weinstein, Miramax was a leading independent movie distribution and production company before it was acquired by Disney in 1993. In 2005, the Weinsteins decided to leave the company and founded The Weinstein Company.

"I'm feeling very nostalgic right now," Harvey Weinstein told the site yesterday. "I know the movies made on my and my brother Bob's watch will live on as well as the fantastic films made under the direction of Daniel Battsek. Miramax has some brilliant people working within the organization and I know they will go on to do great things in the industry."

The Weinsteins have tried to buy the name of their former company back. Disney has not responded. But Bob Iger has made it known that he would be willing to sell Miramax outright Ė for about $1.5 billion.

Dang, that does look good. Even more entertaining than "The A-Team" or Stallone's new ensemble pic, "The Expendables". (However, Stallone's movie will be fun for at least one viewing for all the kick-ass geekness involved in it.)

Losers does look good... looks like a gaming group got together to have some fun actually. A-Team still has lots of promise. I say this knowing that Stephen J Cannell, the creator, is giving it his thumbs up and he is exec-producing it.
