He was 48. I am aware of the '95 hoax (which IMO was in incredibly poor taste), but this time around fellow band members have confirmed it, which they didn't last time. Heart failure, apparently.

I don't blame Macek for my issues with Robotech. I blame Harmony Gold.

Carl did the best he could, given the time and place. That the three shows are coherent is a minor miracle.

That said, I put my SDF Macross DVDs in last night, not my Robotech ones.

It's nice to meet a Macross fan who isn't rabidly anti-Macek.

Without Macek, I probably wouldn't be an anime fan. The combining of the shows was needed to deal with syndication at the time.

My major Robotech complaints are the loss of good music and performances, which I understand and accept as a budgetary limitation, and the later legal BS that prevents legal versions of 7, Zero, or Frontier.

Preferring the original doesn't make me hate Macek, and I've4 never understood those who do.

I'm both a strong Macross fan and a massive Robotech fan, and thank Macek for bringing both into my life.

It has it's moments.
The music's good, it has a nice inversion of the love triangle, it provides a lot of good material to base a Macross game off of.

I could have done without the custom variable fighters though.
