Kyan strides through the crowd and stopping at the Sackville-Baggins he says in a menacing tone

"Guess you'll be taking your leave now right?"

Kyan thinks to himself that there are folk like that everywhere, but it doesn't seem right that a hobbit should be so mean and spiteful, but he still feels a little ashamed at attempting to spook them a little.

Gorbo watches the initial exchange quietly before coming forward and addressing the Shirrif, though speaking loudly enough to be heard by anyone in the vicinity.

"Just to be pleasin' me curiosity, Shirrif.  If Mr. 'ornblower 'ere was to be paying the money 'e owes them and then asks them to leave and they refused, they'd be a-tresspassin', ya?"  Then half turning towards the Hornblowers, "If that's so, you can be usin' my share of the money towards payin' them off."

As Dren drops the small chest of coins in front of Mr Hornblower, Otho Sackville-Baggins stares at it, and the party, open-mouthed. Bran offers his assistance to the Shirriff, and Kyan offers Otho some useful directions – his wife stands utterly motionless, apart from her clenched fists shaking by her sides. Her face flushes crimson as her husband’s jaw works up and down, mouthing air like a fish out of water. Everyone goes very quiet indeed.

“N… no. No!” says Otho. “He had his chance to pay, and now the land is ours! These meddling outsiders have nothing to do with this!” Young Saradoc steps out of the crowd and speaks up. “Actually, as you have yet to legally receive the documentation for the transaction from my father, the original terms of the loan – plus appropriate interest of course – still stand. There’s the money. Now you can leave.” Otho glares at Saradoc with undisguised hatred, and through clenched teeth says “Shirriff – arrest these swine.” Shirriff Hob looks Saradoc up and down, then calmly turns back to old hobbit and replies “Actually Mr Sackville-Baggins sir, he’s correct. You haven’t received the deeds yet, and since no provision was made in the original contract regarding alternative payment, the coins are legal tender. You have to accept them.”

Nearly apoplectic with rage, Otho jabs an accusing finger at Lotho and Saradoc, and manages to spit out “You haven’t heard the last of this, Hornblower! This valley will be mine, I swear to you!” Gorbo adds in a smattering of advice regarding the Shire’s trespassing laws, and Otho stares at him, open mouthed. He narrows his eyes, and turns to Hob. “You wouldn’t…” Hob shrugs and adds “Only if you refuse to leave. Sir.” Lotho clears his throat and walks over to Otho, pausing a few inches from his face, and says “I’ve been waiting a long time to say this, you mean-spirited old fool. GET OFF MY LAND!" At that, the crowd simply goes berserk, throwing hats into the air and cheering in a way that only hobbits can. As Shirriff Hob escorts the Sackville-Bagginses and their ruffians out of the front garden (and out of Longbottom, as they scream hollow threats at you), Saradoc turns to the party with a smile, and says “Now, won’t you all come inside for a nice cup of tea?”
