Amidst the conversation, a shrill beep issues from the phone at the mission coordinators position at the briefing room table. "Go unclass for a second folks," Dawson says as he picks up the phone. After listening for a second, he say "okay, thank you", and hangs up the phone.

"Sounds like the shuttle driver is ready to take you to the plane. It's late; you'd best get over to requisitions and head out before the staff there buttons down for the night."

Swarm interrupts and stands up so that his points will have more emphasis

"I still don't think we have a full game plan yet to really determine what we need as gear yet.

we have 3 parts To this mission:
1. getting in
2 moving about
3 getting out.

If we come in as dignitaries or personnel on  a guest list we will be watched or even assigned an escort.   I had already  noticed the loop hole that we could appear as a joe schmo.  Which was why I was suggesting coming on the base as a contractor.  Contractors, can and do have employee changes.  If they have a cafeteria and warehouse for supplies then they may need to have regular produce or other food item deliveries. These deliveries could be our easiest way in and out.

Example we get a produce truck supplant the standard delivery, loaded truck, we monitor any security checks (pr identities and tap on communication).  We get to the gate and from there we unload, perhaps hiding an agent or two in the delivery.  Truck leaves.  Agents then have 12 to 24 hours to recover the package working with off site backup via radio links.  They return to the drop site or an alternate method.   If we use the produce delivery method we could also return to pick up agents and casually drive away.

This process would cover step 1 and step 3.  Leaving our intruder here to plan step 2.  To assist in step 2 we could also attempt to contaminate/poison their water supply with a fast acting Montezuma's revenge.  We may temporarily decrease the overall man power of the base.  I believe that some of us may be able to whip up a concoction to that affect.

I am also skilled at forgery as well as many other technical aspects so you don't have to do it all by your self. Remember this is a team effort.  That is why they are sending all of us."

"We definitely need a better surveillance of the place, for more accurate details that we don't have.  Perhaps on a trip over we can get an access to their PnL (profit and loss) reports and determine who their local contractors are."

"For infiltration purposes, I have a pool of cover identities already prepared with full documentation available to support my claims.  I've fully researched these identities and am ready to take on any of them at a moment's notice.  I believe one or all of the following three identities will be beneficial to our mission success:

"First, Elaine McAdams, a chemist and forensic analyst working for Marine Intelligence.  Using this identity, I could claim to have been sent in on intelligence that their base had been infiltrated already, and that we believe information from the target to have been stolen - via photograph - by enemy agents.  I will state that I was sent to examine the target and its surrounding areas for fingerprints and other evidence that would point toward an unauthorized agent having accessed the materials.

"Secondly, Sarah Parker, Information Technology Security Specialist, also working for Marine Intelligence.  I believe we have some such real 'specialists' on our team; if one of our hackers could infiltrate the base's computer systems, leaving behind trace evidence of the breach, I can move into the building under claims of attacks on the building's security.  To support my claims, I would need only to 'find' that trace evidence; once archive security is aware of the breach, it will only be a small matter for me to assert my authority to further examine the computer systems and bring in my 'team' to assist.  From there, we have access to the base, and can feasibly justify being in the building after-hours.  With the rest of the team serving as a distraction, I can breach the physical security measures around the target itself and recover the target.

"Finally, Jane A. Adams, U.S. Marine Security Inspector.  I can fabricate or obtain a document mandating an inspection of base security measures.  Once inside, it will be trivial to weaken or disable the security around the target as necessary.  I can handle any physical security measures in place; meanwhile, our hackers can remotely cut off communications to the building.  To improve our success rate, I can set up a remote trigger mechanism to activate the alarms of another building, distracting base security and leaving our target's protection weakened."

"These three methods can be used in conjunction with each other, and alongside any other methods the team decides on, to great effect.  However, these aren't the only covers I have available to me; if someone else has a better plan of action, I can examine the identities I've taken in the past to see if any are more suitable."

Lorelie you definitely need to be in charge for planning and leading the inside assault.

Munin and Viena should definitely be our eye in the sky they can also see what remote access they can gain and possibly see what havoc they can cause with the HVAC, power grid or security systems of the area.  Also this leaves Vienna setup to be a get away driver for us as well.

I myself am trained as a doctor, engineer and security task force trainer and have been considered a young schemer at heart.  I can assist on the ground as well or from outside.  From inside I can also be a low level recruit assigned to the medical team.

Excalibur besides blowing buildings up, what other skills do you have would you be better as backup or on the inside.  And Webworm where would you best see yourself working and what areas of expertise do you have and how would you add that to the following scenario?

This is a scenario that I propose we can use, that meshes with what Lorelie has suggested and should allow options for changes in the plan:

On the inside it may be best to go with Lorelie's approach and have someone with her as an assistant.  (1 cover id needed) Who can run distractions.

For whatever reason after say 6 hours you could request that you need access to a file that may be considered secure getting you to the target building. Some information that our hackers will discover that would be related to your cover and would be included in the section that we need.

Because of the location you would have an arm guard escort.  You and your assistant will need to waylay your shadow.  Once unconscious he may require medical attention for an unknown illness. (tradecraft Poison, Weapon stun glove) Which after you photop the info and being a concerned citizen you would take or send him to the infirmiry.

Of course you would be under suspicion at this point you alone in a locked room with a guard who happened to fall.  And the security cameras again hacked or controlled by us showing that you did nothing untoward in fact are there with your own file in hand.  But you cant have the evidence on you so the best way to get it out would be the same way you came in.  Maintin your cover.  You would conceal on your shadow's uniform the hard data file of the info. (disguised gadget,  pack of cigarettes/business card and memory card).

The unconscious guard would be taken to medical where I (cover id) would have the opportunity to retrieve the data and walk out with it later.

Variables at the moment deal with the dogs, but if the above scenario works we will not have to deal with them.  This splits us into 2 teams, gets you close to the data and ways for us to clear the base.  It also leaves backup for us outside that may help us to complete the mission or develop alternatives as we need them.

"I'm a fire team leader and pointman. I specialise in insertion into hot zones under fire. I have no idea how useful i'm going to be, if at all, since we can't actually kill anyone, so that's my primary purpose out of the window. I can move quietly when I need to, and i'm pretty good at lying and spotting lies." He sighs and pinches the bridge of his nose.

"Feels kinda like trying to bang a square peg into a round hole, doesn't it?" He throws his hands up.

[Swarm]

That is why I think we should look at this mission as a test for us, rather than a test for the Base.  We need to see if we can mesh as a unit.

Each of us is very competent in out fields of expertise and may be used to working on our own.  Now we have to play Basketball with other people just as good as we are.  This is a whole new situation for us to overcome.

Depending on how Webworm feels it may be better for you two to switch.

[OOC] Sorry for not contributing earlier.. been a crazy week to say the least.[/OOC]

I always prefer the soft approach to these things.  It's all about people at the end of the day.  I like the ideas everyone's putting out there, so let me ask some of the smarter people in the room, how can we use their security against them?

What I'm thinking about is, why get to the box ourselves if they'll do it for us?  What would have to happen for them to go inspect it themselves?  What would have to happen for them to move it to a different, less secure location on the base?

What if they thought it had already been compromised?  What does the security protocol tell them to do in that case?

Oh, and if you need me to go have a few beers with some soldiers after hours, I'm your man.  Deep cover and all.  *wink*

Vienna
"Well, my skills are hacking and driving, and I think the former's more useful here. Since our resources are limited I'm fairly competent at forging documents while we're at it - probably wouldn't hold up as military personel but could do some authentic looking passes for contractors, ambulance or whatever.
I'm cute, though I'm hardly femme fatale so I could maybe be on Navy-boy chat-up duty if my other skills aren't working fo anyone, I'm also pretty quick on my feet, I'm used to running away from stuff."

Vienna smiles "Now that you all know me, I think we go with Lorelai & Swarm's plan, though Security Camera's may or may not be hackable, if it's just a closed, cabled system it's going to be a pain as I'd have to get in, find the wires and stick some gadget on there to intercept the signal get a decent amount of footage recorded and they loop it - checking for anything obviously out of place first - obviously wireless or integrated with the on-site network will make things easier, but I don't know how up to date this place is.

Webworm: "Just thinking how edgy they must be on the bases lately, worried that there might be another shooting, or something equally bad.  I think they'd be mighty cooperative if a hazmat truck pulled up with astronaut suits and the whole works and said there's an anthrax threat on the base... and we have a suspected location we're investigating, and we need the MPs to evacuate major areas.  We might not be able to get everyone out, though... hmm.. maybe I'm watching too many late night movies."

[OOC] Since my character's name and my username are the same, I'm going to cut down on redundancy and not post "Lorelei" at the beginning of every post, unless someone objects to that. [/OOC]

Laura nodded solemnly toward Swarm.  "Planning, leading, and carrying out intrusions are my forte.  I'll follow your lead on overall strategy, and I'll fill in the blanks on the field.  During times like this, however, I will, as I have done so today, offer my small-scale tactical analysis toward individual mission objectives in an effort to coordinate my tactics with your strategy.  Our mission success rate should be highest this way.  I believe a team works best with both an accomplished strategist and an accomplished tactician leading the way, so if there are no objections - and there doesn't seem to be, since I've already offered my tactical analysis with no rebuttal - I will assume the role of tactician for our team, as well as operation leader for covert and stealth operations.  My expertise, however, doesn't cover firing squad maneuvers, so I will defer that role to Excalibur for missions wherein such an approach is suitable.

"As far as the poison goes..." She reached down, producing a SIG-Sauer P229 handgun.  "I have this.  It looks like an ordinary handgun, but I've made some special modifications of my own - it has a secondary fire mode that launches the same darts that one would use in a Distinject Model 35.  I also carry with me, at all times, at least 12 of those darts and 12 samples of poison to use in them; for this mission, I will carry only a basic knockout poison that will keep the guards unconscious for quite long enough that we can accomplish our mission and be out of the base before they wake.  If it's required, I also carry this."  She held out a small silver weapon: a Chinese nine-section whip.  "I've trained enough with this weapon that I can consistently and accurately make use of it to bind my enemies, making them much easier targets for the administration of poison.

"Given the time and money, I'm also an expert at the creation of new and unique poisons that can achieve any number of desired effects.  However, I don't believe we will have the time for such things during this mission."

She returned the weapons to their holsters.

"I propose that it would be better, however, to use a contact poison.  I or my assistant can put a sample of the poison on a glove and simply touch the guard - or, if the guards at the base do not wear gloves, which seems probable, we can simply put the poison on an object and then ask the guard to hold it - after which he will fall unconscious within a few moments.  This will certainly cut down suspicion on our part, as he won't relay information of an attack when he wakes.  If we can disable the air conditioning unit before infiltrating the building, whether by direct sabotage or, if it is controlled by a computer system, by the hands of our hackers, this could easily be passed off as heat exhaustion, leaving us looking quite innocent.  The modification of the camera footage then becomes much simpler, as well - adjusting only the time of the guard's collapse to give the impression that he was immediately taken to the infirmary, leaving us no time to steal any information.

"This becomes slightly more complicated if our armed escort consists of more than one person, but it can still be done, so long as we can provide a reasonable excuse for more than one person to collapse.  In the case of two guards, my assistant can take the first to the infirmary while I continue to work, and then I can take the second.  As long as the guards are still alive, the medics at the infirmary shouldn't spend the time and effort to check for poison, especially when the convenient and more likely explanation of heat exhaustion is readily available.

"To increase believability even more in the case of multiple guards, I can apply the poison to myself while carrying the last guard to the infirmary, causing myself to collapse in the process and thus lessening the suspicion against us even further.  This shouldn't be necessary in the case of a single-guard escort, however, and if it does become necessary, it may be better to leave the evidence in a dead drop somewhere between the archive building and the planned point of my collapse, which should be public enough to provide both witness to my collapse and someone to transport both the guard and me to the infirmary, rather than inserting it into the guard's clothing.  That would simplify recovery of the data, there would be less confusion regarding which guard's jacket the information is in.  It would also lessen the chance that the medics will inspect the guard's clothing and find the planted evidence.  If we opt to use a dead drop, we can scout out an appropriate location upon our arrival at the base."

She glanced toward Swarm.  "At any rate, I believe this plan is quite workable.  I'd say our shuttle driver is becoming impatient, however; I believe we know enough of our plan of action now to make our way to requisitions, and we can work out the finer details such as these en route to the base."

Munin

Emmy gets up to leave, putting her things into her oversized shoulder bag. Her hand brushes across one of the Escrima sticks her mother gave her, and she smiled slightly as she briefly remembered her training sessions with her mother. She moved her thoughts to the mission at hand, planning out potential scenarios and contingencies in her head just in case they may be needed.

The enclosed material in the agents' "New Employee Introduction Pack" has a rudimentary map of the base. The mission briefing identifies the archive building (424) on the East map.

After making their preparations, the agents are rushed off to their private air terminal, where the Gulfstream jet, under guise of the Institute's posh VIP charter jet, is waiting on the tarmac for them.

The G550 lands at the air terminal 5 hours later... rapid service by any fair accounts, but it's still going on 2 a.m. local time. Worse, a glance out the window shows the local weather to be rather unfriendly tonight. Gentle puffs of snow girdle the aircraft, but sleet blankets the runway.

The Institute's travel director shoves a packet of a packet of rental car vouchers the agents' hands as the plane is taxiing. He stops, takes a moment to identify VIENNA, EXCALIBUR, and MUNIN, and gives each a lumpy unmarked manila envelope. Opening it reveals a set of keys for the team's SUV. As the plane rolls to a stop, he points out where it is parked outside the fence.

"Be careful out there. Roads are treacherous tonight."
