Sorry, backtracking slightly, do I get chance to create PR2 probe software on the plane, and for any remaining time I'm free to assist with Forgery checks.

I'd like to Investigate/Research if there's any record of underground access, either from the hospital close by or via old sewer system?  Older armories sometimes had underground bunkers, and there might be some old access that people have forgotten about.

spinningdice - you can do whatever you had time to do on the flight.

All - I'm probably out for the night. Happy new year!

@Quicklift:

You can make out that there is:
1) If there is a matching door on the other side (likely), there is probably a central hallway towards the back end of the building that acts as a major loading throughfare.
2) All visitor access is through a security office in the front, with a receptionist and probably buzz-in access.
3) More secure data is likely NOT in one of the rooms along the back wall, but in a more central vault close to the central security office.
4) The walls do look blast shielded, but the new AC unit that was installed after the building was converted is probably not blast-rated.

@All:
To get things rolling, please let me know:
1) Anything else you do on the flight
2) If you acquire lodgings before proceeding to the base, and any other preparations you wish to do locally before proceeding to the base.
3) Who goes in what vehicle, and once you proceed to the base, how the different vehicles approach.

Pheonyx - so how do you want to go about this? Scout out the road layout, nearby landmarks, visual security, escape routes and general appearance of the base perimeter?

A notice check should suffice. What do you think?

Sounds good to me, maybe with Security as a synergy to find potential security loopholes as well... if Psion would allow that.

Notice is Passive, so Psion would have to roll.

Passive skills don't get synergies. Wink

Besides, if you are consciously scouting, that's active, therefore search.

At any rate, if you are scouting the layout, does that mean you are entering the base using your ids? Which vehicles enter the base in what order? (Someone present feel free to make a call that their vehicle goes first rather than waiting for everyone to post.)

We aren't entering the base proper, just getting a "lay of the land" so to speak, hoping to see if there may be something that may aid in our infiltration that may not be on the map (like a poorly maintained piece of fencing or a gap in any video surveillance around the base perimeter); if anything, we may drive along part of the perimeter but not get too close to the base entrances as much as possible (like turning onto a side street away from an entrance).

Ashes to ashes,

Grrr. I tried to post some more info last night, but the forums chose that moment to take a dump, so to speak.

I saved my post in a text file and will post it tonight. Sorry guys.

I'll post some results here; feel free to put interpretations in the IC thread.

Ixthith/WEBWORM:

Your search is fruitful. Checking county building records reveal there are old heating tunnels connecting some of the older buildings, including the armory and hospital. They aren't designed as throughfares, but if you can get to the old heating plant on the hospital grounds, you might be able to exploit them to enter the armory.

There are references to some more recent (as in, after its publicly known closing date) construction contracts regarding the hospital, but the specifics have been excluded from the public record citing operational security.

Spinningdice/MUNIN and Glimmerrat/EXCALIBUR

Doing a circuit of roads near the base fenceline reveals a stream that passes through the perimeter. Approaching on foot, you can see that the stream passes under the fenceline via a concrete bulwark with an aging metal grate. The grate could probably be removed to allow foot access less conspicuously than cutting the fence.

Within the fenceline, there is a perimeter road that DOD police patrol regularly.

Let's add the hospital to our 'drive-by' and see what condition it's in.  I can get out and hoof it to see if there are any lights on, any easy way in, and how visible the heating plant is from the road and/or air.

Since no one seems to have stepped up to do it, I'm going to suggest our two hackers be in charge of making our two cover IDs on the plane, considering that the DC of 20 with l33t almost guarantees that they'll succeed the check, since the error range is only 2, giving them a 90% chance of success - as long as they roll a 3 or higher, the check succeeds.

If, for whatever reason, one of our hackers doesn't want to, then I'll suggest I do it as a cooperative check with myself as the leader and SWARM and the hacker who doesn't do the other forgery as my two assistants (unless one of them doesn't want to do THAT either), which should give me a synergy of +3 if they both succeed.

We only have one forgery kit, but since I don't believe that -4 penalty can cause an error (can it?), it doesn't seem to matter if our hackers have one on hand or not.  As long as they don't suffer an error, they'll succeed in producing a PR2 cover.

Looks like I'm busy today. Please feel free to suggest next step and I'll get back tomorrow.

I'll assume that you made identities within time limits on the plane. However, anything posted after my update tomorrow will be moving forward, and you'll have to do it using local resources and time.
