I already went with Marksman based on that reasoning.

Officer loses Charming and gets Encouragement, which I felt better suited the leadership role.

Only a couple of Specialties left to crank out after this update; a suggestion forthe final Air Force specialty would be appreciated.

Shaping up very well. As a former Air Force Technician in a Search & Rescue unit, I like the Technician specialty a lot and approve of the bonus feat for Search & Rescue Smiley. Might shorten the Transtoprt and Logistics to just Transport (and mention logitics in the flavor text). Would point out that Combat Pilots fly the UNfriendly skies Wink.

I think your missing Air Force Specialty is Military Police - their bonuses dovetail nicely with the tales I've heard form guys assigned to guarding nuclear warheads.

All and all a very graceful structure. Would kick-start any military-based Mastercraft campaign and makes Stargate look very achievable. Finish polishing it and I'll port it all into the wiki and cross-link the heck out of it.

I really wanted to call it Quatermaster, but that treads on the toes of the same named class.

Changed, but it was actually a reference to the logo on the drop ship from Aliens.

It works, and avoids dealing with trying to put in cyberwarfare (who probably don't care about Drive anyway). Similarly, I ganked S&R from the Navy's iconic list and replaced it with engineer; S&R is really only particular to the Air Force, the Coast Guard and effectively the Marines, while the iconic notion of special ops is more the reserve of the navy and army.

And speaking of Marines, I really wish I could give them Military Police, but I'm torn over dropping T&L to do it.

A thought: military renown = enlisted rank, noble renown = officer rank

I thought you weren't allowed to be in both tracks at the same time? (IRL)

RAW, you can have ranks in as many tracks as you like; military campaigns however have their own unique constraints, the most prominent being enlisted vs commissioned rank structure.

Thinking about it more, a modern game would use a different array of (occasionally mutually exclusive) tracks.
  • Covert Agency: Spies, black-ops, etc
  • Criminal: Well, duh.
  • Heroic: Much as written, it deals with how the everyday types regard you
  • High Society: Politicians, the rich, the powerful and other members of the so-called "great and the good"
  • Law Enforcement: Beat cops, detectives, federal agents
  • Military (Commisioned): Officers
  • Military (Enlisted): Enlisted and non-coms.

Thinking out loud here, but power rating of Cover Id = max renown in a subcategory.  Any opinions?

So that fake criminal you set up gets some agency backing, they put the word out and you have a "virtual" Criminal Renown 4.

Maybe, but I think it's probably easier for the Renown rating of the cover ID increases the DC to make it or the cost to acquire it, the base error range of Bluff checks using it, and the threat range of Investigate checks to validate it.

There'd also be considerable value and utility in an ability to purchase different renown under different identities, which would translate into there being a difference between per mission (ie, disposable) and enduring cover IDs, such as Batman pretending to be Killer Crock (disposable) and the ongoing maintainance of his Bruce Wayne or Matches Malone personas.

·   Bonus Feat: Astronaut Wings [1.0]

Did you have this written up somewhere?  I'm curious what you were planning on doing with it.

I'd second Morgs thoughts, Mr A. And not just for a purely military campaign either. A number of my PCs from various campaigns have military backgrounds eg Astronaut, Combat Pilot and Special Forces so I could find good use for this. Please put it on the Wiki. Thanks Smiley

It's a placeholder atm. Something like no space sickness, bonus to saves for gravity change, some sort of movement trick probably.

I didn't say it before, but excellent work.  I don't plan on using them as-is, but they certainly gave me some great ideas for another project.

Oh, do tell?

Right at the moment I'm in midsemester mode - all uni, all the time.  When I get some downtime next week I'll put something more coheriant together and post it.  Until then it's a few notations in between lecture notes and nothing actually solid.  Admittedly I shouldn't be thinking Mastercraft during lectures, but that's just how my brain works.
