The agency is pleased to report that the initial team, while small, has hit the ground running.  Forecasting experts within the agency anticipate the key team will need to draw on the resources of reliable specialists to capitialise on progress they make.

If you would like to play in Sapphire City a bit later on, and you are interested in playing a short casual game where you are largely self sufficient (solo* mini missions of 5-10 posts, with large breaks inbetween missions), then please do the following:

1) See if any of the current roles interest you
2) Maybe browse thru some other Sapphire City threads if you have a chance
3) Post your expression of interest on this thread

The agency also warns that a shadowy faction may later attempt to subvert some of these specialists to sabotage agency operations.

* preference is for solo play, 2 man teams can be arranged if sufficent interest and posting can be arranged.

Current available roles for a start in 1-4 weeks are:

Bodyguard (Awareness and Driving skills essential)
Burglar (Well rounded skill base with low social/combat contact)
Hitmen (Who can inflict major damage in the surprise and opening round of combat)

Full time key-team member places are also still available.  Please post your interest for full time places in the main OOC thread.

I'm interested. Realised that this is only place where I get to play, starting home campaing in couple of weeks.

Burglar sounds fun; will go for Thief (4) and see what else is needed (can do demolitions).
Same rules as for others (6th Level; SC 2.0 SP + Previews)?

It did occur to me briefly.  The roles I suggested so far are suitable for running solo mini-missions, rather then just providing occassionaly access to a technical skill.

I'm hoping your occassional requirement for a technical expert (e.g. demolitions, forgery, mechanics, research) can eventually be provided by locating and making a deal with an key npc.

I will discuss with you and the main team what other specialists you would like on the main OOC thread (later), and those roles to this list.

Yes, use the same character creation rules as the other players.

For a solo burglar, look at all the skills a solo burgler could make use. Of these skills spread points so you have some high/medium/low/none (keep check DCs in mind).  This will reflect your burglar's style and his strengths and weaknesses.

Take one (or none) social skill, as the key team focuses on that style of operation.  The combat ability you have is upto you, but the burglar missions are designed around trying to avoiding combat.

I'd like to get in on this!  I like being a bad guy against some good one.  So with that the only thing that fits is the hitman.  Use a sniper riffle to an explosive in the street or even a RPG.  Also glad its part time due to the fact I'll be away from the computer this week.  Thanks for the chance to be a bad guy.

PS: Not opposed to working as a team (2).

Cool.  As you get time put together your charcter and we can take it from there.   Cool

My preference would be to have you perform an initial freelance mission we can both use as a test run.  Ideally I would also like you to do at least one contracted mission for the players before turning against them (it's just so much more cinematic).

As you make your character, keep in mind the following:
1) Any potential abilities that could help you set an ambush, and any abilities that give you a strong showing in the surprise round and the opening round.
2) Abilities that help you escape after the attack - Athletics, Blend, Drive, Falsify(Disguise), Sneak, etc - and related feats and class abilities.  You don't need all of them, but your hitman should have a primary escape ability and ideally at least one backup one.
3) The target will have a (rolled) vitality level equivalent to a level 3-6 player character.  The longer the combat takes the more (chance and quantity) law enforcement or security minions will become involved.

I figure a posting cycle something like this.
GM - Post a mission brief
Player - Post selected mission gear choice (normally Caliber III)
GM - Post scene description
Player - Post preperation for ambush and overall plan
GM - Resolve ambush round
Player - post intended action for next combat round
GM - Resolve above
(possibly repeat above 2, maybe a few times)
Player - post intended action for escaping crime scene
GM - Resolve above
(possibly repeat above 2, maybe a few times)
GM - Mission completed, failed or reattempted.

A bodyguard mission would probably follow a similar structure, with resisting an ambush attempt and getting the client to safety.

I'm back to the drawing board with my thief.
Watching Ocean's 11 & 12 is not proper source of inspiration, if you want to build a solo operator.
Watch Entrapment instead.

Ended up with a Thief 4/Scientist 1/ Virtuoso 1.
Good at Security, Sleight of Hand, Networking, Sense Motive, Blend and Sneak.
Average at Athletics, Bluff, Drive, Impress, Notice, Search, Science and Streetwise.
Can't do infiltrations, bribery, falsify/disguise.

Sounds like a good build.

Work on it when you get time, and I'll try arrange with the team the best opportunity to make use of your character's expertise.

Think I've come up with a Intruder/Soldier/Cleaner (3/2/1).  Still got to work up his gear and such.  I assume he'll be a freelancer?  Any other thing I need to know in the creation?

Thanks
