Hi everyone,

I'm new to Spycraft. I've been meaning to pick it up for ages, but couldn't afford the core book until just a few weeks ago. I really love what I'm seeing, and will be picking up more. One of the items I'd like to pick up is the 1960's book from 1st ed, but I'm curious how compatible it is with the 2nd ed ruleset.

Could anyone more familiar with the system offer their opinion?

If you get the 1st Ed (Silver/Black cover) books from Drive Thru RPG, they come with additional material that helps you convert the rules to 2nd Ed.

I thought that was only for the core book and the core SFA books with the conversion notes

The conversion notes are ONLY in the core and SFA World books.

Correct. The conversion effort simply took too much attention from new product to keep up for every single Classic Spycraft title.

There are plenty of kit-bashers here on the forums (especially this board!) where people can help you convert whatever you like. The 60's book, coming later in the silver line series, was closer to where we were as designers when we wrote 2.0, and you may find a greater degree of compatiblity than books made earlier in the line. Plus, the 60's is full of all sorts of gear and fluff which can be used almost straightaway with little to no conversion Smiley

I might dig out my copy and look at updating The Wire - unless someone beats me to it.  That was among my favourite classes, even for a modern game I love the low tech spook approach.

I think The Wire was actually remade into the Snoop while the original Snoop was made into the Hacker.

Looking at it I think you're right.  It had been a while since I pulled out some of my spycraft classic books.

But the original Wire in the 60s book is an awesome addition for 1.0 because it is so versatile. You could have easily called it the Barney Collier class.
