[Natural Twenty Games] Realms of Eldrath development thread

As of late I've been busy with the day-to-day job but this weekend I got my Windows 7 RC system loaded and started adding programs - primarily Campaign Cartographer - The Realms of Eldrath is definitely going for an emulation of the older style of game worlds (Greyhawk and the first Forgotten Realms boxed sets) so I started with a standard b&w map and am working my way up.

That took some balls. CC isn't exactly renown for easy compatibility with new operating systems.

Moving my CC setup to vista was never fully successful.

[tangent] Truth be told it's been a very good experience.  My only issue is that I can't "upgrade" the RC to a OEM version, i.e. I'll have to re-install once the true release is out [/tangent]

As for the map - it's my second attempt at a map and so far I'm pleased.  I am learning the app as I go but the youtube tutorials and pdf mapping guides released with the Annual subscriptions have made the curve more bearable.

I had to use Virtual Server and build an XP VM to get all my CC3 stuff working.

Kudos to you!  And the map is gorgeous.

Loving the look of the map. I tried getting into CC, but found it a little daunting. I did stumble across these tutorials on YouTube for getting a similar effect in Photoshop.

Actually that's what I used for the background layer.  The CC map was pure B&W - I just added a multiple layer underneath so I could use the "difference clouds" option for the parchment.

There will be a color map and a B&W one for the print and pdf products (for those that want to save on ink:))

Things are still moving ahead with the release - although scope creep has taken over (along with focus on the campaign world )

The following image is used in the inside front cover for the short adventure that precedes the first Whispers in the Dark

   The village of Chatham lies in the fiefdom of Sir Alaric, the local lord of the land.  The village is the home of the Drunken Fey Inn - the makers of one of the finest ales known throughout the local surrounds.  As autumn approaches the ale is blessed by one of the brothers of the Order of the Scythe and is then transported to Gylwydd for the annual Festival of the Twelve.
