Not at all. About 10 minutes in I said to the person next to me "Is it just me, or does Rush remind you of a Dr. Smith kinda guy?"

Yes, he does.  He just gives off that creepy intelligence that would sacrifice everyone else if it meant him learning something new.

I'm wondering if it'll always be 12 hours, or it'll be more 'Sliders-esque' and have a different time per planet. Also, I'm wondering how long they can keep the metaplot going without it getting stale.

Second episode was better, especially the final act (which featured one of the most effective montages I've seen on TV in a while, underscored with a truly stellar synth-orchestral bed - seriously, it was like Ken Freeman and Jerome Froese had a love-child, welded a keyboard to its hands, replaced its mouth with a subwoofer, slapped it on the butt, and sent out to make sweet, sweet love with the nearest boob tube).

Also caught the Sanctuary premiere, which I dug lots. the story's fun, the characters are engaging (especially the new chick, who I pray is there to replace Ashley - the weakest part of Season 1), and even the car chase was decent. Now, admittedly, any show with Nikola Tesla and Jack the Ripper as main characters has me hooked at hello, but still - good stuff.
