Firewall at work blocks Games, Messageboards, Fun Stuff, etc.

In a perfect world, Crafty would be able to remove any such tags from their site and forums, but not sure if this is remotely practical or feasible.  Anyone have any other ideas/suggestions how to get around this?

Thanks in advance,

AJC

Remote desktop to your home computer and surf from there.

Wait until you get home to check/post?

Use a cellular service to surf?

Removing "Games" from "Crafty Games" in our page titles and site simply isn't in the cards Smiley Though I'm sorry your work is draconian with their firewalling, it would involve not only removing our metadata which we need for everyone else who's looking for our stuff, we'd also have to remove our name from the site Smiley

Thanks - pretty much figured "site changes" were not an option...will look into the idea of logging in to the home computer.

Be careful with that idea.  Most companies IT policies 'frown' upon bi-passing their firewalls via proxy.  My entity files that under a breach of security, penalty to your pay, your job... or subsequently your freedom if you REALLY screw up bad enough.

Again - thanks...

Every now and then, I like to take a couple of minutes and "escape" from the realities of the job.  Completely understand the IT policy and reasons behind it - just sucks in this case... Roll Eyes

Indeed.

What's worse, our networks stupid-ass Websense filter actively stops me from reaching WORK related sites. Usenet is a goldmine for software engineers looking for people who have had similar problems... but almost any usenet mirror site falls under the "forums and messageboard" category. And I can't really fill out an exception form for every single thread that MIGHT have some pertinent information.

The solution would seem to be a stand-alone portable with a big big wi-fi antennae scopping out unsecured hot spots...

Piggybacking is a crime in a lot of places, check all relevant laws.
