Rokrah shakes the man on the ground violently. "What did this to you, human? What's in the fog?"
Not waiting for an answer, he looks around, seeing Jack "Are you a healer? This man needs one badly and we need a shaman to disrupt that blasted fog!"
He turns back to the dying man, "So, what is it? You ain't got all day!"

Whether or not he answers, I assume a defensive position and ready my axe in my right hand and my bar whip in the left.

Stonecrusher thinks slowly about the situation, and tries to determine where he will be helpful. Healing's out, dispelling magic is out. Ah, running stupidly headlong into the fog anyway, and trying to block the gate. Check.

Rather than pursuing the fog, he's trying to get to the gate first and block it. However, running into the fogs not a problem. Of course he's not on horseback, so this may be a very short chase indeed.

Still, it's better than standing around looking stupid, something that although he's very good at, is seldom looked at as helpful.

Kabuki
Not aware of how serious the man's injuries are Kabuki watches to see if he's trying to lead them into a trap Sense Motive (1d20+2=22).
(Presuming that he's not leading us into a trap or otherwise leading us on)
Kabuki speaks softly and reassurringly "Calm yourself, we are here to help - we need to know what's going on."

Jack waves a hand in a shooing manner towards those grouped around the dying man, and tells them "Give me some room here, he's in no condition to answer any questions. In fact he's dangerously close to dying. If you want to help, I'm sure there's something else you can be doing." With that he focuses his full attention on the wounded man again.

Kabuki
Seeing the man is no further use, and more qualified people are attempting to treat him, Kabuki looks around to see what else can be done.

Rokrah, upon Jack's urging, moves away from the dying man, trying to help move the crowd away too. Still concerned for the man, he assumes a defensive posture and gets ready to attack anyone attempting to finish him off.

After taking a moment to assess the situation, Swift decides he would be most useful making sure that the one that split off from the group hasn't gotten himself into trouble, and flies full speed at the gate in chase.

Slash looks down at the dying man, no sign of emotion on his face. Hearing his dying words, he moves past his body and jogs after the others running towards the gate (or wherever it is they are going).

ROUND 3

The coaching inn staff and guests largely mill around in confusion. A few have the presence of mind to unload weapons from packs or wagons while a few others head inside.

Rokrah:
Your fierce visage and violent manner quickly clear some working space around Jack and the dying man. Common sense overcomes curiosity in the folk around you, and Jack is left to work in peace.

Jack Falseth:
Your patient is close to death from several claw and bite wounds, which appear as unnatural as the rapidly approaching fog bank. The wounds weep sickly green ichor and, though fresh, exhibit deep-rooted infection. Black tendrils visibly creep away from the wounds as veins wither and the surrounding muscle dies. Oddly, the wounds appear to have been caused by the nails and teeth of various folk. You haven't seen anything like this before, and realize stabilizing your patient will take a little longer than you expected.

Donovan; Slash; Stonecrusher; Swiftwind:
Through furious and concerted effort you are able to clear the drifts of dirt from in front of the gate, and crack the frozen grip rust had on the hinges. Continuing your efforts should allow you in short order to ram the gate through intervening colonies of crabgrass and into a state of security.

Kabuki:
You hasten toward a wagon parked against the inside of the courtyard wall. Clambering on top you peer into the twilight, trying to discern what may lurk in the unnatural fog.

"Jack, was it? Keep working on the man, I'll keep you safe!" Rokrah boasts.
As soon as he has enough room to not accidentally hit a bystander, he starts swinging his whip in a slow circle above his head, ready to unleash the full fury of his assault...

Jack keeps working frantically to save the man's life. For every wound he treats, two more reveal themselves to be in immediate need of treatment as well, but he perseveres. As he realizes what caused these wounds, he begins to speak aloud, in a surprised tone, in a manner suggesting he is speaking to himself rather than to anyone specific.
"These wounds... tooth and nail caused these, but not from any animal I've seen... Human? Elf? Must be... but how could they have caused this?"
With that he flicks off some of the oozing goo he scooped from one of the larger wounds.

Stone crusher exterts much of his not-inconsiderable strength to push the gate closed, and prepares to face the whatever-it-is that's headed his way. He's not crazy about the idea of fighting what may not even be a corperal opponent, and glances back at those behind him. He takes a deep breath and and braces himself for the incoming fog.

"I die free today" he says loudly defending the gate from the whatever it is.

ROUND 4

The coaching inn staff and guests continue milling around the courtyard. The innkeeper strides around from back of the building, a stout oaken cudgel in one meaty hand.

Here now, what's goin' on?

Rokrah:
The folk around you continue to give Jack and the dying man space. The innkeeper, though... he looks like he could be trouble. Just a few... more... steps...

Jack Falseth:
You begin to make noticeable progress at slowing the spread of whatever foulness afflicts the man. It shouldn't be long now before you are able to stabilize the poor wretch.

Donovan; Slash; Stonecrusher; Swiftwind:
With a loud thud the gate closes. You slam the bar home, securing this stout portal against whatever comes.

Kabuki:
Figures rush through the fog, their motion frenzied. They move with inhuman speed, as if driven by unholy need. Unfortunately, you cannot pierce the roiling vapor to discern any greater detail.

Presuming that there's no obvious way in now that the gate is barred, Kabuki will watch to see where they're trying to come over the walls and shout down what they're doing to the others.

Continuing to scooping out sickly-looking goo and applying cleansing oils and herb-treated cloths, Jack mutters to himself, "Hold on now, almost got it, almost got it..."
