I used to play WoW, and one of my biggest complaints about it was that, yes, everyone I met seemed to play, too.  But that ended up being completely worthless because I could never actually play WITH them unless I wanted to fork over money to transfer characters or start a new level 1 character.

So, how does Champions Online do their servers/worlds?

Is it more like Eve (1 huge universe) or WoW (multiple servers each running an independent instance of the world)?

It is one world with numerous "shards" for each of the areas, meaning that when you go to a new area (like after the tutorial and you choose to go to the Desert or Canada Crisis Zone), you will have a list of shards to choose from and will be labelled "Desert 1, Desert 2, and so on.

Ashes to ashes,

Cool, thanks!  I much prefer that method.  At least if I find someone else who plays, I know we can interact online.

I created 2 characters.  The first is a cyborg ninja named XCC-014 and the other was inspired by (read: ripped off from) The Tick named Barry, though Barry isn't even past the intro level yet.

Global handle is @WHITMORE.

That seems fitting, somehow... Grin

I'm on now as NezMaster.
My characters are Velocity, and Omega 6. I don't know how much I'm going to play velocity. He's designed after a tabletop character, and a speedster. And If you didn't know, speedster as a movement power is worthless. I had to change to flight, and the character has lost his magic to me.

Omega 6 is a little better, though i'm still not a great player. I'm really enjoying it. The stories are good (which is important to me.) I think my problem is with the mmo's in general. If you play it alone, it's just a video game like any other. So the POINT (it seems to me) is to group with others. But

A> I don't know anyone playing
B> When I join, I feel almost guilty because I'm so bad a player I'm just slowing them down.
C> Others read and go so fast I can't enjoy the flavor text or roleplay. Am I the ONLY person who wants an actual rpg online, where you can interact with people, and not just "Wanna help me level"..i sure feel that way.

Theres gropus that claim they rp, but I never see it.
What am I missing?
Anyway, Morganti, Whitmore, you guys wanna play sometime? Anyone else on here yet?

Add me! I read the fluff, and collect perks.
Most mmos are light on the rpg aspect, no matter the flavor or the depth of the lore, even WoW which has great lore behind it, .1% of the population actually care about (in wows case thats still a lot of people, just spread way thin)

No kidding about how light the RPG aspect is in WOW. I did a quest chain today, got to the end of it and ....
