Anyone gotten this?  I'm wondering about picking it up but wanted to check and see opinions that folks have.  One thing I was hoping for out of it, and don't think that it is, is a "intro adventure" to show the players some of the FC goodness.

I figure I will make my own characters and try to run something to start showing how it all works this weekend for my group before we make characters.  I just have to decide if I'm actually going to use FC or Pathfinder...I'm very interested in both of them, but I think that FC got further away from a lot of problems in D20, and that makes it more interesting to me.  And I have this crazy idea of melding the two...but I don't want to blow something up before I have tried it by itself.

Happy gaming and thanks for opinions shared.

I have Darkest Hour, and have just started running a play-by-post game over in the Agent Transmissions forum.

The adventure feels to me consciously old-school. The party starts in a tavern, for example. Tongue

I know that on DriveThru says it is like 24 pages.  How long do you think it would take to run in actual table play?

Happy gaming.

It honestly depends on the reactions of the group. If they go straight to where their enemy is supposed to be (which they will learn soon enough), it can be handled in as fast as two hours. If they are a little more chevaleresque and decide to help the villagers, at least a little, they might need more time, maybe four hours. So it's quite a short adventure (I think it was designed for convention-style gaming), which is good for an introduction to the game, especially if you plan to spend some time with your players to talk about the game rules and their characters (even if you don't create them at the table, you can let them "customize" the pregens). It's designed to be run in a 4-hour convention slot.

It is indeed designed for a four (maybe five) hour convention slot. I've run it in such slots at such events myself.

Iconic Fantasy Craft characters should be coming soon. Stay tuned.

(and don't go blending FC with Pathfinder. That's just unholy--FC's got plenty of win and awesome all by itself)

Ya, I don't think that I would do it, but I have two really nice and shiny new supplements that I have been waiting for (PF for longer than FC) so of course it comes to mind.

However, I think that both systems are strong enough on their own to not need a "boost" such as that, and in most likely hood it would simply take away from both.

If by "supplements" you mean "adventure paths", then I gleefully direct you to the OGL creature convertor in Fantasy Craft.  Smiley

Hey, Golarion works great in FC. Well, you need to fiddle with the names/fluff of the Goblin and Ogre species.

Nope, I meant supplements as in FantasyCraft main book and Pathfinder main book.

Also, ya, I have thought about using FC for Golarion, or Kalamar, or Greyhawk....stupid brain...

Happy gaming.
