Yes indeed. First time I've seen a chrome bra before...  Shocked

That is the least covering pair of panties I've seen anyone wear in public.  Shocked  Tongue

I had to turn off the Safe Search from Google.
Screenshot (or link) or it didn't happen.
Tsk Tsk MilitiaJim, gotta get training your Googlefu. Link (I wouldn't open it at work)

Yeah, she walked pass me while I was waiting in line (unfruitfully it turned out) at Catalyst for a copy of Eclispe Phase.

One of maybe five times in my life I've done a double take.
The parole officer in my head said "Jeees-us! How old is that girl!?"
The Elwood Blues in my head said "Who is that girl?"

Perhaps I was a little hasty. We do need Red Sonja still !!!

Heres the Concept/History for my Viking type PC.

Harald. Vanir Sea Wolf. (Bit like Beowulf)

A great bear of a man, Harald was born in a village on the coast of Vanaheim. As a child, he climbed the rugged sea cliffs for birds eggs and fished with men of his clan in the icy waters of the Western ocean.

He was taught how to fight and to repair his weapons. On hunting expeditions inland, he learned to survive the cold wastes of the north. The hunters of his clan would tell stories and sing songs around the campfires and his voice was often raised amongst them.

When he became a man, his father took him on longboat raids into the Pictish Wilderness. Harald learned how the great dragon ships were sailed and fought with the barbaric Picts. During one such battle, his father was killed.

Saddened, Harald returned home. He hunted inland again, fighting with warriors of the Aesir, deadly enemies of the Vanir. On one such hunt, he was nearly ripped apart by a maddened Bear, which he managed to drive off.

Eventually, he become bored with village life and voyaged south with the Sea Wolves again. During an attack on a Zingarian settlement, he was cut off from his men and fell in with a group of pirates from the Barachan Isles.

He stayed with the pirates on their island home called Tortage for a while, until the ship he was on was sank by the Zingarians.  Harald swam ashore and offered his fighting ability to anyone who will hire him.

He found service with a Duke of Zingara whose daughter had disappeared whilst fleeing that war-torn land. With the aid of a group of fellow adventurers, he saved her from a colony of Ghouls. He defeated the Ghoul-King in hand to hand combat and the group escaped to Argos and Aquilonia.

So far, I have him down as either a Barbarian Soldier (with Rage Basics) or a Hardy Shieldbearer Soldier (with Rage basics). I was trying to find a way to introduce some shipboard skills. I thought about taking Corsair as a speciality but want to keep him "barbaric" in most ways.

Any one have any ideas ? All suggestions greatfully received.

As he's Viking-type, I would go with the Hardy Shieldbearer, Soldier build... with Rage basics if you must.

For shipboard skills, I'd go with Ride as an Origin Skill with a focus in Water Vehicles.

If you're on a roll, how about this other PC concept I was toying with ?   Smiley

Lissandra. Zamoran Thief. Bit of a Swashbuckler.

Lissandra was an orphan, growing up in the seedy streets of Shadizar. She was rescued by Iargo, the famous "Thief Master" of Shadizar, who taught her to defend herself and to steal.

She became quite successful. Then Iargo was betrayed to the Watch by an evil merchant/fence. Though she tried to resue him, he was killed.

Taking revenge on the merchant, she was forced to flee Shadizar with a price on her head. Hiding in the Zamoran forests, she joined a gang of bandits.

She traveled north stealing with various groups till she arrived in Brythunia and joined the PCs to avoid some bounty hunters.

She fights with Sword and Dagger.
I was thinking maybe Orphan Criminal Burglar.

Thanks again for info guys. I'll have a go this weekend at stating the PCs up. Should be entertaining.

Well, I don't have the Orphan talent listed in FC.  This leaves a lot of possibilities open.  So, I've given several choices for Talents.

Talent: Vigilant, Adaptable, Savvy, Wily, or Cunning
Specialty: Fencer
Class: Burglar

Also, I would go with Fencer over Criminal, as it incorporates the swashbuckler bit.

What Dhampire said is pretty awesome.  She's practically a shoo-in for Swashbuckler expert class at this point, since you only need to get her Charisma to 13 (which might be tough, but it's worth it) and get her Acrobatics to 6+, which you'll likely do anyway.

Both Savvy and Adaptable have Grace Under Pressure, which will allow her to get away with attempting stunts more often.  This emphasizes her ability to think quickly when in danger, and I think it's probably one of my favorite qualities.
It may be hard to choose the additional Origin Skills for Adaptable, unless she had any kind of special training from the bandits.  Resolve and Intimidate come to mind.  Giving her the I Can Swim feat and a high Intelligence makes her into the ultimate adapter.

Vigilant rerolls initiative through Lightning Reflexes in addition to its other benefits.  She might be vigilant if she's always watching over her shoulder for the agents of justice.  This combined with Fencer means she'll almost always go first and always act during surprise rounds.  She isn't going to get caught very easily.  Wink

Cunning and Wily will both reduce her Charisma, so the other three talents are actually better if you are in the mood to go into the Swashbuckler class.

Fantastic, Dhampire. Fencer and Burglar it is then.

Thanks too, Daedalus. I'll follow your suggestions and go towards swashbuckler. I think I'll take Adaptable for the Talent.

I'm working through the PCs as we speak and I'll post them up when I have a bit more available.

I did originally create PCs from these concepts with another Fantasy RPG, but porting them to FC has given them a whole new level of detail and exciting options. FC is doing for Fantasy what I found SC to do for other genres. Corny as it sounds, I'm going steadly through the rulebook and savouring creating the PCs.

With your help of course.

I have a further question. I'd like my knight PC, Alannus, to be the youngest son of a noble house and to have enough wealth to outfit him with Horse, Armor and Gear initially. Then on adventure, he gradually uses up all his cash. If he can get back to the Barony, he can "top-up" his cash but then, its back to working for a living.

I'm tempted to give him Aristocrat instead of Fighter but not sure. Anyone have any idea ? Cheers.

Well, the Lancer class gets a free mount and a discount on mounts and mount-related gear, so that's an easy way to finance that burden.

The Aristocrat specialty will give him a little extra income at the beginning of the adventure through Panache.
Young characters tend not to be very good with money, so you should probably dedicate any Lifestyle he gains from Charisma into Panache as well.  If he has a 14 Charisma, 4 Panache will give him an extra 40s on hand and an appearance of 1, which represent respectively some kind of lordly trust account and the proper ways on maintaining his noble appearance.  It is possible to lose lifestyle, though the rules are unclear on what the terms are, so you can make it so that a portion of his Panache doesn't function outside of the Barony.  The Charming quality is nice, and the extra Origin skill would probably allow him, along with his other Origin skills, to purchase some of the skills needed to parley in court (Bluff, Sense Motive and possibly Haggle.)
As a Lancer goes up in level, he can grab Style feats, like Comeliness, that would enhance the knightly aspects of the character.

The Fighter Specialty for Lancers is potentially good, but I wouldn't pick it for a couple of reasons:  The Armor Basics feat is acquired for free by level 2 Lancers and the extra 4 proficiencies would make him hard pressed to choose tricks (Mix-Up helps) since Lancers start with 6.  The Melee Combat expert quality can be really scary if you go along certain feat chains (+2 DC on saves for Fencing, Greatsword, Hammer and Shield tricks) and really brings up the protective potential of Shields and Polearms.

Ultimately, I think it all depends on how much the character will be in combat scenes versus how much time will be spent in social interaction scenes.  Either specialty has its strengths and weaknesses if they don't get to participate in their ideal scene types.

If the character is human, it would be easier to compensate for this difference through the Talent, by countering the negative aspects of one with the benefits of another.  As a non-human, you would do well to compensate for the race's flaws with an appropriate Specialty.

Just as a note though, if you gain a feat you already have by a character option, you do get a feat from the same tree instead, so it's not really a loss.

W-W-WHAT!?  Just read it on p. 84.
"Example: Tanan has the Armor Basics feat (a Basic Combat
feat). When he gains Level 2 of the Lancer class, it grants him
the Armor Basics feat again. He gets to choose another Basic
Combat feat but must meet the prerequisites of any feat he
chooses."
That's amazing!  That opens up all sorts of possibilities that I originally dismissed out-of-hand!  Like a Fencer that eventually takes levels in Swashbuckler. Gee Whiz!
