Hi. Wonder if someone could help ?

I'm trying to get a better idea of how classes work in FC. I've got 3 existing PCs and I want to see if they would port across. One is a Beastmaster/Barbarian type who control animals, another is a Knight type and the third is a Viking type barbarian.

Any ideas ?  I thought maybe the Courtier or Lancer for the Knight.

Well, for the Beastmaster/Barbarian, this is the easiest.  Take the Barbarian specialty, and the Animal Partner feat, and work towards the Beastmaster expert class.  Depending on what the player wants, the scout class might be a good choice.

The Knight, I'd recommend either the Lancer or the Captain.  Courtier doesn't have much in the way of armour/weapon use.  Except for their tongue that is.  But if the character is more talky, that would work.

As to the Viking type barbarian, once again, start with the Barbarian specialty (or something else if you just want to take Rage Basics as a feat) and go for the Soldier class.

Scout, maybe with the Druid Specialty (free pet!). At higher levels, he could use the Beastmaster Expert Class.

another is a Knight type

Definitely Lancer.

and the third is a Viking type barbarian.

Likely a Soldier with the Barbiarna Specialty, though Shield Bearer is closer to the historical Viking warrior (and awesome to boot).

Here's my take.

For the Beastmaster:  Wise Tribesman, Scout (and Animal Partner feat)

For the Knight:  Crusading Fighter, Lancer/Captain

For the Viking:  Hardy Shieldbearer, Soldier (and Rage Basics, if you must have raging)

Excellent. Thanks, guys that gives me some great options there. Thinking about it, the Beastmaster is more of a tribesman. Here's his Concept/History (you might recognise the world background) Smiley:

Akando was born a member of the Hawk tribe of the Pictish Wilderness. Even as a child, he had a great affinity with nature and animals.

As a boy he was taught to fight and hunt in the deep forests. Like others of his tribe, he learned to spot danger and his prey before silently attacking it.

The tribal shaman saw great mystic potential in Akando and he made him his apprentice. Akano was taught some of the ways of Jherbal Sag, a force of nature who could communicate with animals.

During a vision quest in the forest, Akanos dreamed that his totem animal, the hawk spirit, appeared to him.

After a dispute with the tribal chief, who was jealous of him, Akano was exiled and forced to flee the Pictish Wilderness. His own tribesmen hunted him and only his skills help him escape alive..........

Regarding the Knight, I was wondering if he can have any sort of Subplot (or whatever) to represent a Code of Chivalry ??

Akano was taught some of the ways of Jherbal Sag, a force of nature who could communicate with animals.

In that case, you may want him as a Priest, with Jherbal Sag having Path of Beasts as one of its paths.  If he took his Acolyte step as Path of Beasts I, he'd gain the Animal Partner feat.

Also, taking the Blessed feat would gain him the first step on another of the Paths available.

Likely a Soldier with the Barbiarna Specialty,

Ah yes, the elusive Barbiarna specialty. I had hoped that one would make it into the book.

You might look at alignments to cover a Code of Chivalry.  This would define a code of conduct and not be something that will expire in time (like a subplot would).  In addition, for taking the added restrictions, he would gain access to an Alignment Path.

Depending on the exact nature of the code, you may be able to use the Path of Order as is.  If nothing else, you can put together your own path, maybe Path of Chivalry or Path of Honor.
