So, what "type"  would the races of Ivalice be?

In particular, Moogles, and Viera.

I am pretty sure I want Viera to have the Iconic Class Penality, pushing them toward scouts or priests (alignment Mist) with a species feat that adds assassin to the mix..

But I am curious if i anyone has any type ideas for them?

Well Viera and Moogles seem to both be Fey to me, with Viera being really close to elves in their longevity and relationship to nature.

Well, Viera would probably have some of the Elven racial qualities.  Mist Sense could be a special aspect of nature scenes, and Mist Madness could be a pretty significant drawback on level with Burden of Ages if not worse.  Bonus Wisdom and/or Dexterity seems in order, as well as a bonus to base ground speed.  Their ability penalty is probably in Charisma, if at all, or at least according to what I saw in FFXII.  They might have some sort of Disposition penalty when dealing with urbanites and opposite-gendered members of their species.  It wouldn't come into play often, but look out when it does.

Moogles on the other hand have always struck me as a more naturalistic race (though I think Mog has clouded my mind) than Humes, and apparently they're the originators of airships, which speaks to me of iconic specialties.  Bonus intelligence isn't out of the question, and I think they're appropriately small-sized.  As far as other racial modifiers go, I see them with Enlightened Resolve/Crafting, and their "pom-pom" might serve some sort of sensory function.  They might, because they're so damn cute and have a positive reputation, get a disposition bonus or appearance bonus ala Natural Elegance.

The Unearthly Splendor feat seems appropriate for them, as do other Fey aspects, like animals leaving them alone unless provoked.

I see I'm not the only one that has been thinking of this. I lean towards Moogles simply being folk.  Most of the FF Tactics Advance 2 races could easily be modified from Fantasy Craft species with the exception of the Gria, which are some sort of twee half-dragon folk, and I don't think we've cracked an origin cost for winged flight wait, drakes get winged flight too?? lower speeds of winged flight.

See, I was thinking that Viera would be  pretty easy swap for traditional elves (adjust the iconic penalties, and attribute mods, and you are set) but i was curious if creating a new type might not be in order.  I do know that I want to create a catchall beastmen type, though I am pretty sure aberration might work for that purpose...

I should probably >read< the types before I see about creating new ones Smiley

Also, The best moogles are in secret of mana, where they aren't the harbingers of death, destruction, and all that is awesome.

I think it would be better to stick with one or the other, irregardless of status. Do they get their fey nature from being part of their culture (that is, not exiled), or is it more innate? If it is the former then make them Humanoid, if it is the latter then make then Fey.

Continuing on the Viera...

Viera
Medium Humanoid
Attributes:+2 Dexterity, -2 Constitution
Base Speed: 30 feet.
Iconic Specialties: You gain your Specialty’s bonus feat only if you’re an Archer, Artisan, Druid, Fencer, Mystic, Ranger, Shaman, Tribesman, Warden, or Wizard.
Iconic Classes: If your level in any base class is higher than your level in either Assassin or Mage, your starting action dice decrease by 2.
Improved Scent Your scent range is doubled and you gain a +4 bonus with related Awareness and Perception checks.
Long Lifespan: You live three times the human average lifespan.
Sharp Hearing: Your hearing range increments are equal to your Wisdom score × 10 ft. Further, you may always act during a surprise round unless deafened.
Viera Eyes: Your visual range increments are equal to your Wisdom score × 80 ft. You also ignore range penalties from the 2nd and 4th range increments while you’re Aiming.
Viera Body: You can't wear human-style footwear or headgear (with the exception of headbands).

I haven't calculated the costs and may need to add some drawbacks.
Achilles Heel (Mist) could be one.
