OPPOSED CHECKS
When a character competes against someone else with a skill,
he makes an “opposed check.” All involved make a standard skill
check with the most relevant skill (e.g. Athletics for everyone
in a foot race, Bluff for a lying character and Sense Motive for
the listener, etc.), and the character with the highest result wins.
Equal results tie unless this provides no clear result, in which
case the winner is the character with the highest skill bonus.
If
this still ties, a random die roll determines the winner.

OOC: the only thing I see this morning would be this.  You both have a +5 modifier, so it looks like we need a random die roll each....

Simon looks over at the bickering squabble, and back out at the torches and goblins. With a loud assertive voice he cries out. "Stop!" He cries loudly and firmly.  "I think we have enough enemies right now. Let us deal with that, and prevent the loss of innocent blood, before bickering amongst ourselves! Please, save your disputes until after we deal with THAT" and Simon point to the nearby marching problem.
"they don't seem to be coming this way, and I want to know where they ARE going!"

OOC: Ordinarily in the case of a tie highest bonus trumps and if that ties, then random roll (and sadly, the result is too high for Tomb Raider to kick in). Goblin crafted armour however gives an ACP penalty of -1 to "physical skill checks"

OOC: In this case may I suggest that the grapple attempt is represented by a lot of flailing and not much else, and we roll again? Alternatively i'm happy to just resolve this with RP... in which case:

Froatsnik bites Divia's hand to make her let go. He scuttles backwards on the floor and waves the pouch that she wants in front of him like like a protective amulet.

"Ear, av it! Bladdy fing! Iz not wurf it!"

Froatsnik tries to stand, jingling with coin.

"Wot iz it anyway?"

Divia snatches the purse angrily out of the cringing Froatsnik's grasp.

"This is my life," she answers coldly, tugging open the pouch to inspect the stones within. Long, sensitive fingers run over their familiar surfaces, remembering colours and imperfections and the memories bound to them. Then, more quitely under her breath "Such as it is."

"Touch them again, vermin, and I will end you," she states coldly, drawing the string closed and thrusting the pouch into her tunic before nodding towards one of the already looted corpses. "By the way, you missed two silver pieces on that one over there."

With that she back off and returns to her gear, taking care to place the touchstone pouch in one of the inside pockets of her armoured coat before pulling her back back on.

At Divia's comment, Froatsnik pauses furrowing his brow. Then slowly his eyes widen, and he half runs, half leaps onto the indicated body.

OOC: Even split on the cash?

"You are correct sir....Those buildings over there may allow us to see what is happening further in the city, as well as the Dragon might be able to provide aerial reconnaissance.

:: Looks towards the Dragon to see if it heard and if it will respond.  Also afraid to ask if he could ride him, after it all it has been awhile since his mounted Griffin training.  Walks over to a table that might have a bottle of brew on it from the fair and grabs it and takes a long pull.  Then realizing that the flaming goblins might signify something as well::

"We may want to check the tavern make sure no one is stuck inside."  ::pauses and looks a bit chagrined.::

"I apologize if I seem to be bossing I have been a commander within a mercenary company"

OOC:  That would make the most sense to split evenly  Also any archery equipment in the looted stuff?

OOC: I left the goblin's gear off the list since it's all of Crude make. No bows or arrows with these groups

Simon looks to Phelan. "I'm glad to have someone leading. I have no experience with this kind of thing. I'm just a simple merchant, but I'm not about to let these things run over this lovely town. Plus, I don't like being stuck. So advise away, and hopefully make them stop bickering. They don't seem to be listening to me, which I'm not used to..I'm usually fairly persuasive. "
Simon shrugs. "I'll go whereever my bow and my voice may be the most useful. I'm not sure where that is, Tavern or Flaming goblin hordes,  so I'll bow to better judgement."

OOC: Even split seems good. I also need arrows of course.

He and Phelan notice several flaming goblins run screaming from the direction of the White Deer to the north.

Shortly after this, you can hear a high pitched scream, frantic barking, and tittering goblins from the direction the flaming goblins came from.

Having taken a few moments to calm himself, Lightseeker is once again in control of himself.

That was disgraceful, but I shall learn from my failure. It is time now to focus outside myself. We need to move quickly, and wandering these rabbit warren streets doesn't allow that. I find this galling, but I do need a dose of humility.

"Friends," he says mildly, "I believe we should render aid to the north. I should be able to carry one of you wee ones without strain, or two of you slightly larger ones with effort, should you see an advantage to flight."

At Lightseeker's offer of transport, Froatsnik backs veeeery slowly away shaking his head from side to side, hands raised in a gesture of what could only be surrender.

I would take you up on the offer, Friend Dragon.  I have trained in aerial combat so I should not off balance you in flight.  And I can take care of myself as well should I fall as long as I am aware of the danger.

Over there past the mercantile is a building that would provide a good advantage for our archers here (assuming I understood game control and spend the AD).

::To Diva:: -  (In common)  You are a skilled fighter as well, would you accompany the archers and provide defense for that squad in case their position is over ran.

Which should allow you friend physician more time to treat the wounded around here or, if that is done I would suggest coming with me.:

::Drinks some more from the bottle and tries to project an air of competence.::

OOC: You guys make me so proud, what with the resolution of intra-party conflict and all. Brings a tear to my eye, it does.  Cry
