Haldor,
You could pick up language giant with that extra interest indicating a link between Haldar and Weoxgyld. Perhaps the longships of your clan sometimes trade with the elusive Jotunkind?
Cha 8, sounds right for the personality you describe. Just let somone else do the talking (this is why we hang out in a party). Unless you want to get in trouble cos' it's fun to roleplay.

@Foproy,

I don't know about Alden's previous attributes, but I'm afraid the revised numbers are themselves a little off.

After reversing the +2 Str -2 Con for Stern, and the +1 Con for Fighter, the stats and their costs would be as follows:

str: 14 ( 8 points )
dex: 12 ( 4 )
con: 14 ( 8 )
int:10 ( 2 )
wis: 14 ( 8 )
cha: 14 ( 8 )

Points total: 38 (2 over)

Maybe take 1 less Con?

I'm still coming up with 39 when I do the math. Angelic Heritage gives a +1 to the Higher of Wis or Cha.

Yep, that adds up.  But you'd probably do better to take the point off Con rather than Cha before adjusting.  This would leave you with the following:

Str 16; Dex 12; Con 12; Int 10; Wis 15; Cha 14

Cha 8, sounds right for the personality you describe. Just let somone else do the talking (this is why we hang out in a party). Unless you want to get in trouble cos' it's fun to roleplay.

As pointed out. an 8 Cha is a penalty.

It is below average. Not below average for a PC (that's anything below 13), but below average for a NPC. It's below average enough for people to notice that he's uncharismatic.

He doesn't get to hide behind others and let them handle the talky talky so he can focus on the shamsy smashy.

I will make it a penalty. It will come into play. He has picked a stat that says 'I can barely interact with others and am barely tolerated in society'.

10 is average human. 12 is great. 14 is exceptional 16 is world class. 18 is amongst the best, ever. 20 is preternatural. 8 is just plain bad. It isn't a gruff introvert, it's 'that guy smells and can't talk to girls without looking up from his shoes or their chest.'

If that's what he want, fine. But it will come up. The team helps you cover your weaknesses. It doesn't eliminate them. It doesn't let you dodge a penalty you choose.

So, what will be the title of the 'in character' thread. Also should we change the title of this one it's kinda missleading for others out there in internet land.

his stats right now are
str 14 +2 (stern)=16
dex 12
con 13-2 stern +1 fighter=12
int 10
wis 14+1 heritage feat=15
cha 14
which is
8+4+6+2+8+8=36

OK, made some modifications.  How's this look?

Also, if I take Lancer instead of Soldier, does the mount actually have to be a mount?  And does it count towards the prereq for Beastmaster?

Character draft:

Haldar Thorson
Savage Barbarian Soldier 1
Str 15 Dex 14 Con 14 Int 12 Wis 12 Cha 10
Feats: Great Fortitude, Rage Basics, Spear Basics, Prodigal Skill: Sneak

Haldar  is an Ulfen follower of Torag wandering the lands of Varisia in search of fame and fortune.

If someone would be kind enough to check this over and make suggestions, I'd be grateful.

I don't see why it wouldn't, but then, if you don't plan on riding it, then you wouldn't get much use out of Bread for War, Master Rider, and only half the benefit of Born in the Saddle. However, most of the other abilities aren't dependent on the use of a mount. What kind of concept are you working on for your character?

I can still use the Intimidate half of Born in the Saddle.  I don't plan on taking enough levels for Bred for War or Master Rider anyway (3rd level max).  I'm thinking on becoming a Beastmaster and, since I can move as fast as any mount, I wouldn't need to ride.  If I start with Lancer, I wouldn't have to spend a feat to gain a third origin skill and could use it for something else, another animal companion even (and that would make the 2nd question moot).
