Hmm... We have this new, shiny game... and I have a pile of APs here...

Since the best way to learn a game is to play it, would anyone be interest in playing some FC pbp? I wanted to see about converting a Pathfinder AP for FC, but my local groups are busy.

Anyone interested? Only commitment would be to the first module, or you tire of my GM style. Wink I was thinking Runelords, but I have all of them if people would rather a different one.

Also, if PbP isn't acceptable, I'm willing to entertain virtual table options.

I'll play. What level? Any restrictions on characters? FC core only or are you porting in anything from SC?

Wow. That was quick.  Wink

Let me see:

Starting Level: 1
This game is as much about me learning and kicking the tires, so let's start small. The AP's assume level 1 3.5, so it'll be interesting.

Characters: It depends somewhat on the AP, but I'm not ruling anything out. Traditional D&D villainous races may have issues though, especially Ogre but I'll need to check. As foe stuff from SC, at the very least the Seer and Channeler class. Maybe the Martial Artist, but I'm not sure. And the Elf anf Orc Blood feats. The other Species feats I'm not sure on and I want to check the Golarian discussion of the Olympus species. Stuff proted in will likely be done on an as needed basis.

Oh, almost forgot.

And for those who don't have the PDF yet, still respond. Since we're starting so low and none of us (other then Pat and Alex) have any real experience with FC, I think we can help you through the Char Gen if you want in.

What tech level? I was thinking either a Clockwork Unborn Soldier or Saurian Keeper/Alchemist.
Do you want the characters posted here or PM'd to you?

Despite my schedule-caused trepidation, I would very much like to jump in here. I can will afford to lose a couple hours of sleep to wade through char gen, and this will feed my FC craving.

Since this is a test-bed I'd like to play a Drake/Acrobat(?) Soldier. My gut feel is the Drake race is a little mechanically broken, and I'd like to verify/disprove that before I try to run a campaign.

Thanks!

Walter

EDIT: Drake/Fist Soldier

i do not have the books, though if you could set me up a stealth/acrobatic character that would be great.

How about an Agile/Acrobat Burglar? I can stat one up for you, though I'm going to avoid any kind of funky/esoteric character options for the sake of my time (and because it'll be easier for you to play without books).

Walter

EDIT: This will also give me the opportunity to compare the Drake/Fist Soldier I'm statting out to a more "vanilla" (i.e. one we're more instinctively familiar with) character design.

I'm all about getting in on this. I'll hold off for a second on character concepts until you decide a little more on what options you wanna go with.

Ok.

I did some thinking on the way home.

I would like to run Rise of the Runelords by Paizo, starting with the first module, Burnt Offerings. This module takes pace in Paizo's Golarian setting. Part of this because I want to run a game there, and part of it is to prove FC can handle it without tossing all it's cool options out. If you've played, ran, or read it, don't sweat it. Smiley If you haven't don't worry about it either. It is a rather traditional (for Pathfinder) D&D adventure series. Monsters, magic, traps, evil villains, etc.

This leads to three things. First, no spider nation elves. There are no drow in Golarian. Yes, yes, I know, but no one knows. Second, ogres will present a special challenge. The Ogre species and it's splinters represent true ogres, or some other name, I haven't decided quite yet. Play them as described. The inbred hill folk ogres are what people think of as ogres, but they're a different species. Lastly, you would need to be heroic to some degree. In D&D terms, no evil PCs.

Now:

Walter: As long as you understand that you are a Large dragon and people will tend to react accordingly that's fine.

Mr A: Yes.

fopoy: Think of the character in D&D terms. Race, class, etc and we can go from there.

Alex: No pressure, huh? Wink Ok. Pick a species and I'll figure out what deities. As an aside, do you have any recommendations for Qualities to emulate D&D?

Anyone else interested, speak up quickly. In the meantime, the Player's Guide for the AP is available here. I need to think a bit about the Pathfinder AP bonus feats, but I will likely be granting them. If none of the ones in the book (which will need some tweaking) let me know and we can find a suitable one in the FC book.

I'd like to play, but Iwon't be able to buy the books for awhile, as I've just lost everything I own in a flood. So I have to replace the games i play before adding to collections...but If that's not an issue...

Oh, absolutely. I expect roleplaying concerns will need to mitigate the unadulterated sickness I suspect this combination to engender. For my own (future) campaigns I need a feel for how much of such mitigation is required. Smiley
