Never, ever, ever have dealing with this shitty airline. You can still save yourselves.

I don't know about NWA, but I do know I'll be avoiding Qantas in the future. 7 hours to bring you the rum and coke you asked for when they bought you dinner - not even government departments are that slack!

I'll throw in a stab at Air Canada.  Last year, when The Girl went to Europe, 4 of her scheduled 6 flights were Air France.  Guess which four were late departing and later arriving?  Nothing like driving from Lexington to Louisville (65 miles) to pick up your girlfriend and detouring to Chicago because of screwups like that.

Progressive Radio host Ed Shultz has been retelling his horror stories involving NWA (or something like that). He's convienced that the airlines overbook on purpose and just toss one lame excuse after another as to why the plane isn't leaving. He spent just about the entire first hour of one of his shows (Monday, I think), talking about the airline.

I have to admit, my one time dealing with NWA wasn't bad, but that was about two years ago.

My first trip to the UK was through Air Canada. Appalling experience, though not as bad as Air India (that's my single worst flight experience ever). I flew AC through Ontario, which at the time had some bizarre set-up where you got off the plane on Canadian soil, passed through customs back onto American soil - in the middle of the airport - and then went back through customs into Canada before boarding your connecting flight. That was pretty ridiculous.

I think all airlines over book, by like 20% or so.  That seems to be the average cancellation or no-shows.  Since I live in a hub city for NWA, I guess I"ve gotten lucky.  Every NWA flight I've had has been pain free.

Air NZ didn't last time I flew to GenCon. I think our plane was about half-full at most. I wound up in a middle seat, thinking I'd be trapped between two people, unable to look out the window, or stretch my legs in the aisle. I ended up having all three seats to myself and being able to almost lie down for much of the flight. Adding the on-demand in-flight movies and tv and immediate delivery of alcoholic beverages it was the best flight I've ever had.

Such a shame I had to fly in a South West bucket o' bolts from LAX to Indy Sad

My best flight was a Virgin Atlantic flight from Heathrow to San Francisco. Easy check-in, spacious seats, some cracking films.

Worst flight? I think mine beats you all... a Royal Air Force Tristar from RAF Brize Norton (in the UK) to RAF Mount Pleasant (in the Falkland Islands) via Ascension Island. 18 hours in a full capacity aircraft with no in-flight movie and no alcohol (they "forgot" to restock before departure).

Of course, that was nothing compared to the 4 months spent at the arse-end of the world Wink

Commercially speaking it was the United Airlines flight from Heathrow to Washington DC the week after 9/11! Nothing against the airline or the staff but the, obvious, extra security measures made everything take forever. To cap it all off, almost everything in Washington DC was closed for security reasons (my wife even christened the city "Washington Doors Closed"!)

I think that's still how it is there.  That's a little bit crazy, yeah.
