First look at how Matt Smith's doctor will look http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/8158556.stm

I really like it. The bow tie and tweed jacket have that are of the twee sense of fashion the traditional doctors had. With Moffat at the helm I'm really looking forward to this new series.

Very nice. I do like the 'young professor' look. Not too different from Tennant, either.

Amy Pond. That's... not a name to conjure with.

This is his 11th, he's meant to get 13. The producers did say, however, that with Gallifrey and the Time Lords gone, anything could be possible. Afterall, the Master had used all of his regenerations long ago, but is still kicking around (or was).

I had heard that the new doctor was black.  Did I hear it wrong or did the actor back out?

Before Matt Smith was chosen as the new doctor where was a frequent rumour that Joseph Paterson (who is black) was favourite for the role. Whether he was actually going for it or was in any form of short list has, to my knowledge, never been announced.
