Hmmm, right now RPGNow is having a sale on Transformer type stuff, including the Transmechs.

Still not interested, but picked it up anyway.

The Auld Grump, completist, and it was on sale....

I've just bought a copy, it's pure genius.
I'll have to tell other people about it...

Well, look at it this way -- it does have official Crafty stats for laser weapons. Plus shenanigans involving the Deep Space Communications Complex outside of Canberra.

Tanforming robots, hmmm. Lasers, phah!

But that last phrase was what made go wandering on my mind, liked what pictures it created there and made me buy it!

Too bad you cannot autograph pdfs, tho'.

Well done you guy!

It's 25 pages really worth their salt and ours!

I have a question about the alternate modes.

The rep/net worth alt modes have an "X" instead of a  number for the required spark rating.
Is it 10 or an error?

An entry from page nine of the thread:

By the way, I picked up Transmechs this weekend. I don't know Spycraft, but after reading through the splat, I'm probally going to pick it up. The rules seem very solid, and the sample character statblocks are so much smaller and easier to use than standard D20 Modern it's amazing.
On its own, it's a pretty good rendition of Transformers, covering everything from pretenders to gestalts. I'm not sure about the relative power level of a human character vs a Transmech character in Spycraft, but it looks like the system is set so its balanced more like the Justice Leauge comics/toons, where Batman is everybit as effective as (and gets as much screentime as) Superman, despite the vast disparity in powerlevel rather than the zero-sum 'everybody of the same level/CR must have the same raw power level' of D20 Modern.

It's "10" - if we had forgot the number, we would have listed it as "XX" Smiley

Or, the other extreme:

I like the expressions on their faces during the transformation sequence. (And incidentally, those specs in the manual actually are for a Gremlin. Smiley )

I have not actually purchased Transmechs yet, at least in part because I've received mixed reactions from my Spycraft group (meaning they might not be interested in using the book....*sigh*).

That said, I've been hearing the Transformers theme in my head since the book came out, but with the lyrics "Transformers - Robot Superspies"

...Just saying  Grin

What sort of missions do you normally send them on / genres do they play?

Offhand I would suggest the shootier side of espionage, and would be taking wheelman to the next level.  Cheesy

The Titan? or the Bioroid from Appleseed?

I don't know if the Hecatonchires system can be covered by anything short of massive powergaming.
