2) Bant . Mutant Human. Explorer

A native of Wenatchee, Bant was born with a keen mind. As a boy, he studied the few ancient books and devices available in Wenatchee and in later years, made dangerous trips into the dead cities of Barlund and Settle to the west.

As a result of these trips, he developed strange psychic powers and his skin became weaker.

He tinkered together a number of items with his knowledge of ancient science eg his musket, his armor and a pair of home made spectacles he uses when studying.

He carries a broadaxe made with a sharp metal buzzsaw from the ruins.

Bant relishes any chance to increase his knowledge and looks forward to any chance to explore the unknown. So he was keen to sign up when he heard there was a team headed out in that direction........

3) Garl. Bipedal Mutant Animal. Scout.

Garl was part of a tribe of Mutant Cougars, who lived in the forests to the north-west of Wenatchee. When young, Garl was exposed to a nanite swarm which gave him his strange powers

Then one day, he returned from a hunting expedition to find them his tribe all slain, killed by mysterious raiders with ancient weapons. He could find no clues but he has sworn to find the raiders and one day avenge his people.

He found a new home among the townsfolk of Wenatchee and used his skills as a scout to find salvage and food for them.

Very loyal, he enjoys exploring and so joined the team sent out from the town. He acts as their guide on the perilous journey across the wastelands..........

Stats to follow.

There. I've finally started the stats. I'll keep going back and update them till complete.

Credit where its due slot No.1: (more to follow)

I've borrowed some of the Cultures from Wolverines WNC campaign on the WIKI and Mister A's Hybrid conversions. Thanks.

I think I'll make the PCs fourth level so that they are competent without being superhuman killing machines and paragons.

Which levels do you guys use for your starting PCs Huh?

As to Specialities for PA characters, I think the choices available would depend on the how much time has passed since the Apocalypse.

A Few months - 20 Years after Apoc.   Any Speciality from rulesbooks or any listed below.

20 - 200 Years after Apoc.  Only Hunter, Reseacher, Tribesman, Warrior, Doctor, Clergyman, Rescurer (Cop), Raider, Steel Brother, Vault-Dweller, Gladiator or Scavenger.

Credit where its due slot No.2: I've borrowed the Raider, Steel-Brother and Vault-Dweller Specs from Wolverines WNC campaign on the WIKI.  Thanks.

Gladiator and Scavenger Specialities are still works in progress, unless someone fancies a stab at them. I thought maybe Any Melee Combat Feat for Glad. and Search as a class skill for Scav.

Back soon.

First or third level. Depends on the game.

Depends, but the last few were first.

As for the specialties, I tend to be more narrative (in the convention sense, not how Edwards redefines it) and effects based. I'd allow any specialty if someone convincingly tells me how the character has it.

Yes. I can see where you're coming from, Krensky.

Working my way through the list of PA fiction, I'm just started one of the Vampire Earth books by EE Knight. Anyone out there read them ? Are they as good as the hype makes out ?

If I were to do it, I would certainly follow the PA path of waking up after the cyrogenic capsules failed and thawed out. I'm thinking of the History Channel show Life After People.

Would you start this with Cash N Carry or go Stockpile to start and then move to Cash N Carry?

You could actually have any kind of normal modern make up for classes, talents & specialties that were put into the capsules.

I'm back. Sorry about the delay, but I've been getting the stats finished, running a PA mission and devouring the print versions of Shadowplay and Oddjobs at the same time. Excellent Stuff.

I think, 'Puma, I'll go straight to Cash N' Carry (and Loot). Even though they may have been part of an organisation in the past (the military or Community of Wenatchee), my PCs won't really have have built up a lot of resources and just have pretty much what they carry.

I assume they'll be travelling about a bit and will have to trade for things or Loot them from ancient ruins. Cash and Carry and Loot seems to cover this well.

The Life After People show was excellent. Glad you meantioned it. I'd use it as the basis for placing and creating animals in the PA world eg one of my missions will involve the PCs travelling on a wooden raft through a flooded New York City and climbing into ruined skyscrapers for battles with Mutant Birds, Plants and maybe Rats too.

The bits in the show about the effects of time, environment and plant growth on cities, buildings and bridges are great for extrapolating what say Chicargo would look like in the PA future.

I love that show. I think it is awesome. Combine it with some of the pics for Cool Place For A Scene thread and you'll have a great game!

Just equipping my PCs at the moment and came across this:

 http://hoe.whatt.us/index.php?amount=&size=Frames+size+3+or+smaller&availability=Scarce+or+lower&page=ranjunk&Submit=Generate+Junk+List

Its a random Salvage generator, useful when your PCs start combing the ruins ...........
