Hi,

First of all, let me start by saying Thank You to all of the help I've been receiving.  It really is quite impressive.

My question regarding poisons is this.  I want to make my own poison that has a Primary Onset Time of 1d4 Rounds, a Primary Save DC of 28, a Primary Effect of Paralyzed, and a Secondary Effect of 1d4 Lethal.  By making the poison last 1d6 Minutes, I end up with a DC of 90, with 8 Challenges and an Error Increase of +9.  However, if I reduce the Secondary Onset Time to 1d4 Days (8 steps) and the Secondary DC to 12 (8 steps), I can reduce the DC by 80 and the Error Increase by 16.

Assuming that I can't go below the base DC of 20 and Error Range of 1, can a poison like this be made?  The cost would be about $80 for 3 doses and take 8d4 rounds (assuming all rolls were successful).  The poison would be an All-or-Nothing type, but still pretty powerful.

If there is something I'm missing to the Poison Creation rules, please let me know.  I don't mind powerful poisons, but I want to make sure I'm doing everything right.

Thanks again for all the help!

Without walking through every step, that seems right. What's making it seem not right to you?

I just wanted to make sure I could reduce the Secondary Onset Time and DC 8 steps each.  I wasn't sure if I could go below the Primary values on those.

Thanks again for responding so fast.  You guys are the best!

Oh, I see the question now. Let me go check the draft (forgive me - it was written a while back).

...

Ah yes, I remember now. We discovered that loophole while building the rules oh so many years ago. It's one of many reasons we didn't try to split Primary and Secondary Onset times. So no, according to the rules, this wouldn't be doable, especially since paralyzed essentially means dead.

That said, if your GM were to allow it, I'd probably recommend that that Secondary changes have only half the effect (in this case reducing the DC by only 40 and the error range by 8 ).

Hope that helps!
