What if Batman traded crime fighting for dope growing.

I guess this could also be how modern day Hobbits keep their pipeweed supplies maintained Tongue

Not quite cool the same way as stuff already posted, but a fun trick:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blind_spot_(vision)

The article is informative, but the interesting part is the demonstration about half-way down.

Fixed the link. Apparently, http doesn't like parenthesis.

"Although all vertebrates have this blind spot, cephalopod eyes, which are only superficially similar, do not. In them, the optic nerve approaches the receptors from behind, so it does not create a break in the retina."

Further proof that, one day, squid and octopi will rise up and conquer us all!

Nah, the squids, maybe. Octopi just think that we are nifty. Tongue I had a teacher who had a pet octopus named 'Miss. Grundy', for reasons unknown. About the size of a saucer, when its tentacles were spread out. The little thing was friendly and had been taught to shake hands.

Shaking hands with an octopus feels exactly like you would expect it to. Tongue

The Auld Grump, she would also plop through hoops....

Having seen an octopus hunt, kill, and eat a shark*, I'll be keeping a wary eye on them all the same.

*I'm not kidding, it's up on YouTube.

Having seen an octopus hunt, kill, and eat a shark*, I'll be keeping a wary eye on them all the same.

And they are all venomous, too. But that's okay, the only one with venom known to be lethal to humans* is THE SIZE OF A FREAKING GOLF BALL.

Have fun on your next scuba diving trip in the west Pacific!

* - To be precise, one specimen has enough venom to kill 26 adult humans.
