Apparently the Farrelly brothers are making a Stooges movie.
I think the casting is brilliant.

Here's the article on yahoo...

I don't think they've confirmed del Toro yet, but they're working on it.

The casting certainly is good.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and suspect you are not in favor of the idea of more stooges movies and/or the casting.

I sort agree, there are somethings you just shouldn't touch....   but I'm really sort of indfferent to the idea....   but it's another case of Hollywood having to rob from the past and still can't do it as good...

And then I pinned a medal to Grump's chest and said "your our boy."

I've got to agree with those on the kill page.

A friend called me the other night. "I'm really upset" He began the conversation with. Being as he's going through a divorce I braced myself for the worst news and said "Ok, what's up"

"they are making a 3 stooges movie, and worse yet, they picked Jim Carey to play Curly".

"Oh man I'm sorry. That totally sucks." I said earnestly, almost wishing  it had been crap about the divorce. Nothing to say to that. It just sucks.

Of course we both think Careys good movies are pretty rare.
For me it's Truman Show, and Spotless Mind. Everything else he's ever done makes me gag.

I'll concede that Sean Penn, in makeup, may well be a dead ringer for Larry, and that Jim Carrey can probably mimic Curly's schtick without much difficulty, but del Toro?  Seriously?

Beyond raw casting, though, who even thinks to remake the Three Stooges?  It makes my teeth itch.

I really liked him in The Majestic.

But as for the 3 Stooges...meh.  I don't even like the original, so I can't see any reason to expect much from a remake.

Yeah, it's bad enough to remake every decent movie ever made, (and crush it.) but now they are remaking people. What's next. "Bogart the movie" "Peter Lorre". I mean it's not even a bio pic (which might be ok) it's just trying to recreate the team. Like the Monkees trying to be the beatles, only worse.

..My real nightmare scenario is the Marx brothers movie I can just feel coming. End of the world signs.

They sort of did that already, or at least got as close as they could without IP infringement.  The movie was called Brain Donors, and starred John Turturro (in an obvious Groucho role).  As I recall, the movie was funny (at least it was funny when I was like 15), but has since faded into obscurity.
