The cold damage section specifically list how often damage is applied when certain tempatures are reached. It does not say HOW much damage to apply. So how much damage would be applied from exposure to -20 degree weather..

I'm guessing 'cold weather gear' would add about 3-5 CLD...looking at the other armor types listed.

I remember getting confused about that too.

There's some damage values on Table 7.3: Nature's Fury (page 401, second printing). Down the bottom, for flash freezes and blizzards.

Huh, actually, there's a couple of bad references there:
1. Flash freeze directs you to page 231 for the cold contagion. Page 231 is the Security Picks table. I think that should have been page 287, which is the Contagions table.

2. If you look up 'diseases' in the index, it directs you to pages 277-278 (amongst others). Pages 277-278 are the Electronics and Gadgets sections of the Gear chapter. I think it should be pages 287-288, the Contagions table.

I guess (those two, very small!) things got a bit screwy when the Gear chapter was changed for the second printing? Is there anywhere in particular I should be posting errata?

Not only is that even more confusing, it doesn't answer the question.
Can you only get frostbite during flash freezes and blizzards? How do you handle sub-zero tempatures in general?

Your questions are now on the radar - which dovetail nicely to some other questions about environments and a brainstorm I had just a few days ago.  Grin

Err, that won't help. Sad

You need a tin foil hat to protect against brainstorms.

DOH!  That's right, I need a tin foil hat.

I'll keep the lightning rod, just in case, though.

Edit: Stupid typos

This is one of the many reasons we're resistant to make changes to existing products. Just sayin'.  Angry

I'll flag these as something to fold into the errata. Thanks for pointing them out.

There are some pretty wild permutations when it comes to handling heat and cold conditions. We've decided to present those, along with a stack of other material related to hostile climes, in one comprehensive upcoming product. Smiley

that's nifty, but it doesn't help me run next weeks game. Sigh. I'll just make some stuff up then.

Looking over table 4.2: Nature's Fury (page 401) - a blizzard inflicts 1d6 cold/hour. Flash freeze does 3d6 cold with the event. If you're not using a Blizzard against the team, i think you could probably just use the 1d6 cold/hour exposure rule for that temperature.
