Heh - I ran across This Song on an album of Canadian songs I recently purchased. If Eric doesn't run his O' Canada campaign soon then I may make an adventure around it.... Tongue (I can't really complain - I like Stompin' Tom Connors....)

The Auld Grump, any song that ends in moose calls is one to cherish....

Last night in my SG-1, upon realizing their use of flash-bangs and electrolasers to knock out a squad of Nazis was rather noisier then they planned on and that it had attracted five more squads of goons (fifty in total) the team decided to flee:

Me: There's five squads heading for your position, what are you doing?
Team Leader: We're going to run!
Me: Very good. I also would have accepted: We're fleeing, we're getting out of dodge, we're withdrawing, Run Away!, and Cheese it, the Dean!

Today I had a coupon for half off on up to two Blue Ray Discs, and went to the local Borders to use it....

I ended up buying Disney movies.  Embarrassed

Mostly because it was because they didn't have any other Blue Ray movies that interested me where I thought that the higher image quality would make any real difference to my enjoyment of the movie.

So, I got the Pirates of the Caribbean Trilogy, and Enchanted. If they had any movies by Hayao Miyazaki then I might have gotten those - I hate most anime, but Studio Ghibli has been a wonderful exception. Smiley

Yeah, I've come to the conclusion that Miyazaki and "most anime" are two different things. I regularly stumble into anime hate, but my main exposure to anime is stuff like Howl's Moving Castle and Princess Mononoke. I'm like "what's your problem? This is good fantasy stuff!"

I watched and rather enjoyed the live action Speed Racer movie last night.  Of course it does help that we only paid $4 for the dvd and that I had no expectations other then for it be a baby sitter for my 3 year old while trying to get the things done around the house that you can't do with a little one under foot.  But hey its a side effect free psychotropic trip, and the plot was a fairly decent hero's journey sort of plot.

The Auld Grump, when would I ever run an MST3K Spycraft game, anyway?

Don't be embarassed of that, man, be proud!

I once wrote up Joel, Mike, the 'bots, Clayton Forrester, and TV's Frank for d20 Star Wars (unrevised).  Was going to use them as an occasional, drop-in, just-for-laughs encounter, except it never happened.

Wrote some notes on them for Decipher's Star Trek, too, but never wrote 'em up.

Edit: Added bbcode quote tags -- I forgotted and tried to 'greentxt'.  Anyone who knows what greentexting is, now that's something to be ashamed of.   Grin

I swear I am not 12 years old and I like to play Rifts.  I know its sad.....  I also like Ninjas and Superspies... yep its a guilty pleasure.

I have a Spycraft 1.0 conversion of Rifts about 80% done.  It actually was surprisingly easy.  The two hardest bits were gear (I'm still not 100% happy with how that system turned out) and spells.  The magic system itself was cake.  I pretty much lifted the Palladium system wholesale.  But, it's re-working the spells themselves that is a pain.

If I don't post it, he can't do anything about it.  He can only make me cease and desist distributing it, not creating it.

Unless I am underestimating the power of the Palladium fan-boy network.....

I have seen it work both ways - I recently heard a real anime fan explaining that Miyazaki wasn't real anime.... Roll Eyes

Please excuse any odd typing artifacts - I recently won an Archos 5 and am experiencing the joys of thumb typing for the first time.

What the heck is it with me and MP3 players?

I put off buying one for years.
I buy one and a few weeks later my brother sends me one for my birthday. A few months later friends and family send send two more MP3 players for Christmas, leaving me with four. (I gave three of them away.)

I break down and buy an IPod (used - I am a cheapskate), having filled my MP3 player and a couple of months later I win an Archos 5 in a contest at work that I didn't even remember entering.

And the Archos 5 I won was not the one I was supposed to receive - I was supposed to get the 60 GB model, but for some reason they sent me the 250 GB model instead. If they had sent me the 60 GB I would have just given it to my roommate ore something. But no, they have to send one that has almost 100 GB more than my IPod Classic.

Fortunately, the Archos is big and heavy enough that I think I will be keeping the IPod for wanderin' round with, and save the Archos for planes, trains, and automobiles. It really seems better suited for watching videos on than using to listen to music.

Why the heck can't this happen with things that I wouldn't mind having extra of?

The Auld Grump, who complain about anything, it appears.... (Guess why this is showing up under 'I ought to be Ashamed'.... Roll Eyes )

There are some fiction authors that I keep a page of crib sheets for when I am reading them - stealing ideas from them for later.

This week it was Christopher Fowler - The Water Room has a good deal of information about the lost rivers of London - rivers that have been contained, covered over, paved and/or built over, and occasionally lost. The story primarily deals with the Fleet (or Flete) for which Fleet Street is named.

I can understand doing it with nonfiction, but somehow it seems off to do it with a novel....

The Auld Grump, who has also stolen a couple of ideas for magic systems from novels....

There are about a dozen fantasy genres I am in the mood for, and I'm putting them all off for FantasyCraft.

In cleaning out the garage with my wife today, I happened across my copy of the original Spelljammer boxed set, along with the Realmspace supplement ... Now I'm in the mood for buckleswashing the phlogiston alongside my Giff first mate and ARR MATEYS.
