A fully functional submarine built for the primary purpose of transporting massive amounts of cocaine has been seized by Ecuadorean authorities with the help of U.S. drug enforcement agents.

Hmmm, I seem to remember photos of something very similar, years ago, when it was still under construction. For some reason I seem to have assumed that was the end of it....  Roll Eyes

The Colombian narcos have been using these for years now.  The shift to Ecuador is a result of the Colombian military winning their war against FARC.

Well, they have been using semi-submersible boats for a while. If the story is accurate and this is a true submarine, that would be new.

This does appear to be the first time that they have finished a submersible that would be used for round trips.
