It may be fake - but really, I could build one in about 5 minutes [or one that actually looks nice in about 20].  All you need is two plates, some spacers and a maze template [some sort of cutting device would also be helpful.

And you better hope and pray that there's not someone in your house or apartment coming after you, and the only means of escape is through the front door.

It seems to me a lock like that is meant to keep someone from going out, rather than keep someone from coming in.

It seems to me a lock like that is meant to keep someone from going out, rather than keep someone from coming in.

It's more of an intelligence test then a security device.

Not to mention that the extra length of chain required to permit movement through the maz actually defeats the entire purpose of a door chain, which is allowing a small enough degree of movement to allow you to look out but for someone to force their limb/way through
