Virtual Table Top Support
« on: December 09, 2008, 10:41:57 AM »
New to the Spycraft system and forums.  What a great product.  I was wondering since I do most of my gaming via Vitrual Table Tops, such as Fantasy Grounds II, does the SpyCraft community support online gaming?

Is there a SpyCraft module for FGII that someone is aware of?

Thanks again and Crafty, keep up the great work!

I'll leave the community to answer this one but my guess is "yes for some, no for others." There isn't one accepted system for doing it, which leads us to...

No. However, we're working behind the scenes to build something we think will be really helpful for those who want to make the digital leap. Until we're at any point where we can announce something (still a ways off), we encourage folks to get together on any of the popular platforms (ideally together, and ideally letting us know so we can point there when the question comes up again). :)

Hiya Crafty Pat,

Any update on this digital Fantasy Craft thingy?

I would love to introduce my players to Fantasy Craft (we can only play online these days because we live all around the country now)

Thanks!!

Eric

Sadly no. As even the big companies can attest, digital development is fraught with peril. It's arcane, laborious, and far from reliable for any outfit beside a genuine software development house (and even for many of them).

We'll make some noise when we have something to show off.

d20Pro said they would eventually have it so you can use their software with Fantasy Craft. But when/if that actually happens, your guess is as good as mine.

Given some of the software we run, it's certainly not reliable even when produced by supposed "professionals".

Spinningdice.  You made me LOL.  Thank you.  I'm having one of those days of "who designed this software?  A kid with a Crayola box and a notepad?".

Working for a company that develops software and working with said DEVs, I'd have to say yes and only on a good day.

We have software where we sometimes sit there and think that using basic windows Notepad and a rudimentary file-structure would be more efficient.
Unfortunately I think one of our main purchasers is more interested in how hot the sales rep is, than actual software quality.
