I'm guessing mostly martial artists with lots of Wuxia, but I suspect there's a few more WoF goodies that could be useful

Heh. That scene would be the one that includes what I call "the greatest Reflex Save EV-AR!"

Both of those two are master grapplers. Tifa's packing footwork chain and maybe a bit of boxing. Probably martial artist/neo. Thug boy has levels in thug/avatar. Sprinkle with tricks from Practice Makes Perfect.

Thug picks you up and swings you around, knocking over benches along the way to...
"Super-death-blow-slam!"
Make save. 0 damage. Flowers explode.
"I don't *^&*^ing think so!"

Both of Tifa's big hits are textbook double hurl from Wrestling Supremacy. Once she trip-tosses him then stomps his chest as a parting gift, the other she trip-juggles, then chases him into the air to deliver a major slam.
The hair in the breeze pose after laying him out is pure strut.

The Partner feat chain in Class Confidential came from that movie too.

Footwork chain eh?
I would rather say that both have kicking moves.
Both are rolling chain heavy.
But I agree that they are master grapplers.

Yeah, on further analysis, I'd swap to Kicking feats for Tifa. She identifiably pops sweep and backflip in that sequence, both kicking feat tricks. No sign of Kicking Supremacy though.

I'd also tend to favor her using coiled stance for much of the fight, from Brawling basics - favors her high reflex save bonus AND grants extra 5 foots steps - she' seriously into drive-and-follow moves.

He does a stomp/drive once, but I'd count that as a bullrush rather than a kick given the way it's shoving her around.

Hmm. I'd go Moves for her, no problem. Him having Supremacy is an intriguing way of showing his ability to shrug stuff off (DR 5/- is no joke) and his last attack could very well be torpedo.

Oh yeah. Hands-on assbeatery in abundance.

One of these days, when I have nothing else to do, I would like to do a series that focuses on Spycraft Combat, using scenes from popular and not-so-popular movies. A description of the scene and the Spycraft commentary (combat rules, feats, class abilities, etc.) to accomplish some of the moves.

I would just love to draft out the shoot outs from "Face Off."

I agree, but note that villian and the slender gunman do a fine job working Cloud over in the forest fight. That scene more than any other is the basis of the Partner chain. Yes, the villians inspired Partner Basics/Mastery/Supremacy Wink.

You guys have seen the live-action music video rip-off of this scene, right?

Unfortunately, it's also the only good *scene* in the whole movie.  But I say that as one who's not a FF fan, and so knew nothing of the apparent continuity of the film.  Pretty to look at--and makes no sense to my layman's eye.

I dunno. Considering what the super-human thug boy shrugs off in the course of that movie (like building destroying explosives), I'd say she gave as much or more than she got - she was just pouring buckets of hurt into a very deep well. He didn't earn a fraction as many action dice in that scene as she did Grin!

"Right. Fling trick into the side pocket. You ricochet his rump off the wall. Then what?"

"Um, I'll leap after him, rebounding off the same wall, off a pillar, and then off his nappy head!"

*Action die*

I hadn't but it's pretty cool. Seems like it would have been easier to get her some black Converse than those boots, but I can't fault the alternate ending Smiley.

That off the wall save is just such an iconic sequence.

"10,000 points of damage mega-SLAM!"
"...You get nothing, punk."
