I was perusing Agent X: The Runner and came across the Plugged In character ability, which grants Internal Access. I checked the core Spycraft book, but couldn't figure out what game advantage accrued from having Internal vice External Access. Is it a hook on which story elements can be hung, or are there mechanical benefits (either is valid; just wondering).

Check out the Hacking Dramatic Conflict. Basically, what access you've got combined with the current lead determines the length of each conflict round.

I will admit to not reading the Hacking dramcon -- the most reasonable place to find the information for which I was searching. I did run a text search for the string "internal access," though, so I wasn't a complete duffer. Thanks for the pointer. I'll read through the dramcon description when I get home this evening.

Always using the Internal Access times is good, but the real meat of that ability is the 'fallback' Power Rating boost when you already have Internal Access since this condition should be the baseline state for a Runner.
