Hi.

I was thinking recently about how Wealth (Lifestyle, Posessions and Cash) are represented in non-espionage games.

Eg in Post-Apocalyptic games, I guess money becomes useless and is replaced by bartering for goods, so the Cash component of Wealth would probably stay at the default of 1.

PCs might allocate points to the Lifestyle component to get tricked out cars with armor, ram plates etc as in  Max Max. They probably wouldn't own a house as PA heroes tend to roam about.

They'd also put points into Possessions to get lots of weapons (guns, chainsaws etc) and to provide goods salvaged from ruins.

How have you guys covered Wealth in your non-espionage games Huh?

Cash is a measure or 'liquid buying power'. It can be credits, bottle caps, miscellaneous trade goods, etc.

For your example, use the Cash n Carry system and the Loot system from The Big Score.

Krensky's right.

The Big Score is ideal for what you are doing. Any non-standard ideas on wealth can easily be handled by Cash 'N' Carry or even the Stockpile rules (which I think fits better for a Mad Max scenario) plus tacking on Prudence as opposed to Possessions. This I cannot wait for...seeing Prudence in action in FC.

You can't really use Stockpile without possessions (since that's what all gear is in it), and it refreshes after each mission. Cash 'n Carry with a nebulous definition of 'Cash' is the way to go.

I vote for a well-defined but non-standard definition of Cash. For example, the ability to provide untainted gametes in a post-apocalyptic game. "The gun is how much? Um... I'll need twenty minutes and some privacy." Tongue

That's really more or a category of Loot.
