That works much better than whatever dried pea of an idea was rattling around my skull.

I think I was getting hung up on snapping giving you powers right now.

Is "near death" a subplot?

Nearly dying is only ONE way to Snap. It seems Snapping is the result of extreme stress or a tragedy, rather than a near death experience - for instance, I bet Vin witnessing the murder of her sister as a child ensured her Snap as a baby.

Yup.  Definitely better.  Now I'll go read up on sub-plots some more.

Thanks to this new project I went to my local book store and managed to find the first part of the series. So I dropped the book I was reading and picked up this one instead.

I have to say that so far (I have read less than 100 pages) the book has been very entertaining and I must admit that it is great fodder for an RPG.

Although MasterCraft looks nice I somehow hope that this one will use totally different engine (I understood that this is still a possibility).

Anyway, I am thrilled to see the final product no matter what rules it will use.

One thing that I would like to point out is that I would like to see the possibility to easily create comparable powerful PCs even for the first campaign. Why? First of all, I have a day job and a family with two kids hence not much free time. This in turn leads to the fact that since my players are more or less in the same position regarding the free time we don't simply have time to raise the characters from the humble beginnings to more powerful levels (where the action really happens).

The second reason is that this model better emulates the books (and fantasy fiction in general). So far I have noticed only one character that would be considered sort of low level character (at the point where I am reading). The rest of them are pretty competent.

I'm not saying that PCs should start at the top but at least from the competent level (or make it easy to create such characters). Well, that's my wish, at last.

Y'know, I don't want to steal anyone's thunder here or repeat something that's already been said, but I'm probably going to do both.

Star Wars Saga Edition is awesome. Jedi vs Anyone Else, and often times I think Anyone Else has the upper hand -- probably because I run a Dark Times game. Wink Anyway, my point is that SWSE is IMO an exemplary system on balancing setting-defined stars of the show against other PC concepts. I know that there are other games out there that manage this but Star Wars has always had a problem balancing non-Jedi.

I have faith in Mr. Craft E. Games to make roleplaying in the Final Empire exactly what it deserves to be. Cheesy

It is a priority design goal that every character, from mundane to Mistborn, is equally playable out the gate. Trust that. It will happen.

Does that include Kandra?

I've just finished The Hero of Ages (IMO the best book of the three).

Will we have more information in Allomantic metals (and Feruchemy uses of them) than it appears in the trilogy?

When will see teases?  Smiley

Yes - talking with Brandon early last week, I think we'll be able to run with some ideas on the magic of Mistborn to open things up a little more.

Teases, however, are a good long ways away  Wink

It's mentioned in one of the epigraphs in Hero of Ages that Vin Snapped during her birth.
