The real question then becomes: Is D'Artangnan a Musketeer or Fencer? :-p

If you mean Dumas' character, he's a Fencer. If you mean Charles de Batz-Castelmore, it's harder to pick out. I'd probably call the Comte d'Artagnan a Bodyguard or a Champion (ignoring the letter of the prerequisite, Allegiance to Cardinal Mazarin and Louis XIV was strong enough for me as a GC to qualify for it). Spy also wouldn't be out of place.

Psst, I think you mean "spinningdice" Tongue. Unless you mean to say that D'Artagnan is called Gonad the Barbarian  Grin

Yeah, I shouldn´t have used it.

The retainer will be a ministeriales, a medieval slave expert. A very uniform and large group in the non-english feudal system.

"Fighting Monk" stuck in my craw once too often and got turned into "Fist"

Fist: You have practiced rigorous disciplines that have toughened you mind and body, making you a living weapon of the highest caliber.

Bonus Feat: Two-Hit Combo.
Attribute Training: The lower of your Strength or Wisdom increases by 1 (your choice in the case of a tie). This bonus is applied after any attribute modifiers from your Species or Talent.
Fast: Your Speed increases by 10 ft.
Practiced Acrobatics: If you spend an action die to boost an Acrobatics check and the check still fails, you gain the action die back after the action is resolved.
Unarmed Proficiency: You gain the Unarmed proficiency.

Indeed, imagine playing an Agile Fist, or a Burly Fist, or a Gonzo Fist. A Corn-Fed Fist just seems silly. But a Charismatic Fist... talk to the hand!

I thought I'd make it easier to mull over the best direction for building D'Artagnan

Fencer
You’ve made a name for yourself with footwork and swordplay.

Bonus Feat: Fencing Basics
Decisive: You gain a +5 bonus with Initiative.
Edged Proficiency: You gain the Edged proficiency.
Fast: Your Speed increases by 10 ft.
Parry: You gain the Parry trick (see page XX).

Musketeer
You’re a member of an elite corps trained to use early black-powder weapons.
Requirements: Reason Era or later (see page XX)

Bonus Feat: Bullseye
Attribute Training: The lower of your Dexterity or Wisdom scores increases by 1 (your choice if a tie). Apply this bonus after any modifiers from your Species or Talent.
Black Powder Proficiency: You gain the Black Powder proficiency.
Called Shot: You gain the Called Shot trick (see page XX).
Commissioned: You may purchase Military Renown for 40 Reputation per rank (see page XX).
Heroism: You gain a +1 bonus with all attack and skill checks you make during dramatic scenes.

As you can see, we've taken to naming the individual Origin benefits, which should make it easier to note them on the character sheet.

I see that the Fencer has changed since we last saw him in the Classic Fantasy.

Interesting...  Smiley
