We know that one of them will be the Bard, and it's accompanying feat is Well Rounded. We also know that Paladin is going to be an Expert class, and that the specialties don't rely on the High Magic quality.

That in theory -- if we take the 3rd ed players guide as ours -- leaves us with the following classes. Their accompanying feats aren't going to include the MC version of the Basic Skill feats, as they explicitly have their own slots.

Barbarian - Berker Basics.
Cleric - Iron Will (most likely a retasking of the Clergyman).
Druid - Animal Companion.
Fighter - Armour Basics.
Monk - Martial Arts.
Ranger - Tracking Basics.
Sorceror - Fortune Favours The Bold.
Thief - Ambush Basics.
Wizard - Forensic Genius or Photographic Memory.

I doubt there will be a Sorcerer Specialty, notably, every magic using class is "Sorcery", see the thread over in Spellbound about the next  class...
Plus, Sorcerer is a synonym for Wizard in all context except D&D.

Sorcerors get their power from natural talent/ability. Wizards are book learnt. That's sufficiently different to warrant two different Talents.

Isn't that distinction a D&D contrivance? Outside of fantasy novels based in D&D campaign worlds, I haven't found that artificial distinction to be true in general fantasy. The D&D version of magic is one of the least appealing things about the game, IMO.

Original trilogy Jedi are Wizards, where in theory anyone can be trained up as a Jedi if they're astute enough to cotton on to the invisible energy field determining everyone's actions.

New trilogy Jedi are Sorcerors, whose ability is purely determined by the circumstances of their birth.

However, not everyone can be trained to be a Jedi... there has to be some sort of innate ability that allows the said individual to learn how to be a Jedi. Wasn't one of the reasons to hide Luke and Leia (in the new trilogy) from their father, was because they would be powerful in use of the Force? The continuity was still there even in "Return of the Jedi" and the dialog about who's strong in use of the Force.

Say what you want about Lucas as a film director... but the dude knows how to string stories together.

To me the Jedi were more akin to the Sohei of Oriental Adventures than a straight up wizard or sorcerer in regards to "magical" ability.

And here's my favorite of the new human Talents Smiley. All of them lead to pretty obvious literary archetypes, but this one just clicked for my own playstyle.

Stern: While worn and haggard from your trials, they have revealed a core as tough as iron.

+2 Strength, –2 Constitution.
• Base Speed: 30 ft.
• Grueling Combatant: Each time an adjacent opponent attacks you and misses, he suffers 2 points of subdual damage.
• Know no Pain: You may ignore the first fatigued or shaken condition you would gain each scene.
• Light Sleeper: You are neither blinded nor helpless while sleeping.
• Relentless Attack: You gain the Relentless Attack trick.
• Unbreakable: Each time you suffer attribute impairment, that impairment is reduced by 1 (minimum 0).

More ones we knew were coming:
7. Barbarian
8. Bard
14. Druid
16. Fighter
27. Ranger
28. Rogue
31. Sorcerer
36. Wizard

Conspicuous by their absence: Monk, Paladin.  Master does not seem to have replaced Monk.  Hmm.

EDIT: 6. Avatar?

Relevant to the latest puzzle:

Desire symetric Specialty list - so 36 slots.
Need 10 slots for D&D class counterparts. [if 'Paladin' = E.C., then Monk analogue?  -#3]
Need 10 slots for Basic Skill Mastery array.
Fill remaing 16 slots with interesting feats not granted by above list of 20, showcasing a roughtly even spread amongst all feat trees. Need to populate several eras of play.

Happiness!

I feel this to be as suitable a time to unlurkify myself as any. There are a few about which I am less than confident and 33 which has me fairly stumped. Hope I didn't spoil the fun!

Well done! 6, 22, and 30 are off and you have two left unsolved.
