Here's my initial attempts at the two iconic ninja schools as talents:

Koga
Requirements: Koga-ryū Allegiance.
·   You gain a +1 bonus to checks to determine Surprise. This bonus increases by a further +1 at career level 4, 8, 12, 16 & 20.
·   You gain the improved hearing NPC quality: Your base hearing range is equal to your Wisdom score × 10 ft. Further, unless deafened, you gain a +4 bonus with Notice/Awareness and Search/Perception checks made to determine surprise (see 2.0, page 323).
·   Your unarmed, melee and exotic hurled attacks possess the Armour Piercing (2) quality.
·   Bluff is always a class skill for you, further your result cap with Bluff checks is increased by 5 (maximum 60)
·   You automatically succeed on all cooperative checks where you are the helper if you have at least 4 ranks in the skill being used and the leader shares your allegiance or is one of your team-mates.

Iga
You were raised on the tales of the great Hattori Hanzō, and proudly follow in his footsteps.
Requirements: Iga-ryū Allegiance.

·   +1 Dex
·   You gain the Edged and Exotic (Hurled) weapon proficiencies.
·   You gain the Fearless I npc quality.
·   You are always considered armed when making Intimidation checks.
·   You gain a +1 bonus with all attack and skill checks you make during dramatic scenes.
·   You gain a +1 bonus to Initiative. This bonus increases by a further +1 at career level 4, 8, 12, 16 & 20.

And one of the more famous sword schools:

Niten Ichi
You are a loyal member of the Hyōhō Niten Ichi-ryū, founded by the legendary Miyamoto Musashi.
Requirements: Hyōhō Niten Ichi-ryū allegiance

+1 Strength
·   You gain the Edged weapon proficiency and an additional weapon proficiency of your choice.
·   You gain a +1 bonus with all attack and skill checks you make during dramatic scenes.
·   Tactics is always a class skill for you, further your result cap with Tactics checks increases by 5 (Maximum 60).
·   Your possessions include a daishō (Katana and Wakizashi set).

And another school, for added rivalry:

Yagyu
Requirements: Yagyū Shinkage-ryū Allegiance

+2 to the Lowest of Strength and Dexterity (your choice in case of a tie), -2 Wisdom

·   Your Speed increases by 5 ft.
·   You gain DR 1/Specal characters (damage inflicted by special characters ignores this damage reduction). This DR increases by 1 at Levels 4, 8, 12 ,16, and 20.
·   Once per session, you may improve the disposition of any 1 non-villain NPC by 1 grade without a skill check.

And for the dishonorable dogs:

Ronin
Prerequisite: You must possess a talent that does not require an Allegiance
Bonus Feat: Melee or Ranged combat feat

·   Each time you gain 1 or more ranks in Intimidate, you also gain an equal number of ranks in Resolve. This may not increase Resolve beyond its maximum rank.
·   Once per scene, you may gain the special benefits of attacking an opponent in a terminal situation without spending an action die or you may take a coup de grace action targeting a flat-footed standard character even if he is not helpless.
·   Once per scene, you may roll 2 dice when making a reflex save, keeping the result you prefer. You may use this ability an additional time per scene at Levels 7 and 14.

And the mysterious mountain warriors!

Shugenja
Bonus feat: Polearm Basics

·   Survival is always a class skill for you, further your result cap with Survival checks increases by 5 (maximum 60).
·   You are considered to have 1 additional terrain feat for the purposes of any ability or feat that is based on the number of terrain of feats you possess.
·   Your possessions include an extra caliber III melee weapon.
·   Your mission gear includes an additional 4 upgrades which may only be applied to weapons or security gear picks.
·   You gain an extra interest at levels 0, 2, 6, 10, 14, and 18.
·   Once per session you may request a hint from the GC for which the GC gains no action dice. If the GC refuses, you gain 1 bonus action die.

Question:
These are new origins, right?
We have an extra topic for them in this very subforum.
Is there a special reason you posted them in a separate topic?

Because I'm gradually working on a setting involving them, I just haven't gotten around to putting together the connecting bits yet.

Once my apartment gets internet tomorrow so I'll have both my books and internet access simultaneously I'll start posting the things I can't do with just the wiki as reference.

So basically they're all part of a unified concept that hasn't been very fleshed out yet.

Iga-ryu

Once led by the mighty Oni-Hanzō, the Iga school became the most renowned of all the shinobi schools. However, after his death, his son neglected and mistreated the school and it's members, and much of it's influence was lost. Now the Iga ninja strive to regain their former glory.

Koga-ryu

The Koga school has survived by shrouding itself in secrecy, frequently disguising it's numerous branches as independent groups working at cross purposes, only to strike once their enemies have underestimated their reach.

Yagyū Shinkage-ryū

The Yagyū New Shadow School has had more than it's share of legendary leaders. Yagyū Muneyoshi, his son Munenori, and grandson Jubei were all prodigies who have repeatedly revolutionized the art of the sword.
