i am actually hoping the smart glass thing works, because it will not add to the cost of a controller, and have you seen the wii u controller there is no way that thing is comfortable.

Agreed.  My mum has an iPad and a little stand thing, and if I put it on a coffee table next to my couch it'd make for an awesome map - it'd be super easy to glance over and see it without interrupting the action.  So I'm looking forward to seeing what they can do with it.

From a marketing perspective it's a great move to - allowing consumers to do almost all the same things with no additional outlay?  Love it (plus giving tablets and mobile computation more new functions is very cool anyways).

the more i see and read about dishonored the more i want to play it. the below article has a bit of story involved in it, but i do not know how much of a spoiler it is. but consider yourselves warned.

Oh, wow. I'm with you, foproy. Cannot wait for this title.

Microsoft seem to be attempting to suck the wind out of the Wii U's sails.

For those who don't want to read the article:  The new "SmartGlass" thing means that every mobile device - not just Windows powered ones either, even 3rd party ones (iOS and Android being the obvious ones) - will be able to have the full portable functionality for the games.  The stuff they showed off included Halo 4 having a map on a Windows Tablet and Windows Phones being used as remote controls.

Probably not quite as userfriendly as the Wii U - you'll need to put your tablet somewhere you can glance at easily instead of just holding it.  I'm gonna call it now though - by NeXt-Box (because XBox 720 sounds kinda stupid) we will have an optional controller with a ~6" touch screen built into it.

The first thing that comes to my mind is using your phone as an in-game control panel (say, a Pip Boy). Wouldn't that be a thing?

Also, wouldn't it be rad to be able to use this in conjunction with a Kiinect, holding your phone in front of you to show the direction you're looking in - and have the phone display what you actually see in that direction? That's full immersion gaming right there!

It could act as a motion sensor a la Aliens.

Seriously, the possibilities are nigh-limitless...

Hm... ::goes off and jots down some notes::

Yeah, you'll see that idea in about a year. Wink

That DMing idea is gold.

End of Nations, the MMORTS of near-future combat is going Beta soon enough, and it taking applicants.
Looks pretty decent and easy on the computer specs. I've already applied.

Skryim's Dawnguard DLC is apparently about 10-20 hours long, and is substantially bigger then any Fallout DLC.

Here's a list of what's in it (Vampire and Werewolf Perk Trees and new Shouts).  I'm looking forward to it.

I went to the "Art of Video Games" exhibit at the Smithsonian today.  It was disappointing.  I'm not sure why I expected it to be anything but dry, but jeeze.  It felt like no one involved in the production had any more than a cynical scholar's interest.  There is something to be said for getting a view from the perspective of folks what are not at all familiar with video games, but I never got the feeling they believe that video games' marriage of visuals, story, music and technology is actually art.

About a third of the exhibit space covered a history of video game machines, first Atari through PS3 including two PC iteration, with four games per system.  Neat, but meh.

They really needed to borrow some sculptures from Blizzard, as well as whatever paintings and big fanart prints for a proper gallery to go with the "video history boxes."

TL;DR:  Two of five stars, they needed to spend more effort on the arts that go into every game.

I liked both earlier DE games, though for reasons I can't recall I liked the first more than the second.

While I enjoyed Deus Ex far more then Invisible War, at $2.50 you can pretty easily justify getting it on a whim and seeing if you like it.  Think of it like this - for $2.50 you can either get a pretty good sequel to an excellent game, or a cheeseburger from Maccas.

Mass Effect 3: Extended is out 26 June.  It's 1.9 Gig.  Which is, you know, quite substantial.  So it'll be interesting to see what is in those many bits.  There better finally be some fucking consequence for my multiple years of choice though.

Skyrim: Dawnguard is out the same day.

Ok, I finally finished ME3.  (Yes I've been behind the power curve.)
