In my experience games tend to run a bit iffy in Wine or other windows emulators, but that might be worth a shot if the other route doesn't pan out - the game play looks really cool, and I like that your choices span the whole season (instead of them being little stand alone bits of content).

i am sure that that will create an uproar in the community, and one that is not deserved. blizzard is taking some of the money that you did not have to begin with boo hoo.

Yeah, I've actually been in favor of a real world economy in video games for a long time, though only if it's ancillary to the game's main "experience." That is to say, I'm fine with something like a real world auction house, where folks are buying and selling loot, and I'm not only fine but would prefer the company claim its fair share of that exchange. My issues arise when the game I've bought and paid for - the main story / mission series / whatever - requires an additional purchase to complete *.

* No, I do not consider second-tier exchanges part of any game's main experience. Ever. Maybe there's a case for it with, say, Magic Online, but certainly not with Diablo and probably not with the vast majority of other games, either.

Hmm.
15%'s a bit, but considering that it's otherwise tax free I can live with that.

So if $250 = 100,000,000,000 gold...400,000,000 per dollar.
What? And the 15% is to combat inflation?
What does Blizz think 4x10^8 per buck is? Yeesh.

I think it's good.  I've heard from mates who play WoW that they know people who have been scammed with EBay auctions of items and things like that.  Having Blizzard facilitate something that is going to happen anyway while simultaneously protecting their customer base is a good thing.  Taking a small portion of the proceeds for doing so is completely fair.

Of course it's easier to say when this will not affect me in any fashion, as not only is Diablo III not being released on any platforms I own, I won't purchase any game product that has always active online DRM.

I am in 100% agreement with you Pat about games requiring additional purchases to complete.

after playing it i enjoyed the game and will probably be picking it up. that being said i will probably not buy anything from the auction house, that does not mean i will not sell anything there.

In case y'all missed the announcement, the next edition of Nazi Zombies is coming out.  That's right, the fight against the undead continues with futuristic weaponry and technologies.  Take the fight back to those bone-junkie maggot-sacks this November!

Oh, and their tacking some conspiracy black ops story to the game.
