Eh. Given I'm not likely to buy the game for another couple of years, not that concerned.

I'm sure it'll be explained, but plotwise, what defeats me is why the hell Cerberus are trying so very hard to kill Shepard' and fuck up her mission to save Earth.

Because the Illusive Man kept screwing with Reaper tech and got himself indoctrinated.

Apparently Mass Effect 3's next trailer is so epic it needs it's own teaser trailer, or something...

On thing I did notice, and like, about the multiplayer is that in addition to a three or four person squad the three most important things contributing to success is average level, squad composition and teamwork.

Even with four people, having someone hare off on their own makes things much, much harder. Similarly, if you don't have a mix of abilities things get a lot harder. I like how all XP and money is shared, so you have more incentive for cooperation and that a low level character can hang back while higher level ones do the heavy lifting until the rookie gets stronger.

People who play like it's a typical shooter will not be appreciated.

The problem is that it's far too easy to become split up when you're moving to outflank an enemy or protect your own, then get hammered and stuck as an observer for the rest of the wave (screw you, Counterstrike). But jeez, those 'disappearing head'-shots are far more amusing and unexpectedly gory than they should be.

The "mash the space bar to give your team more time to reach you" mechanic is a bit pointless though. Still, being able to see your teamies through walls makes up for the game's overall stupid decision to remove the mission radar from the HUD (seriously, sticking it on the powers/squad control freeze screen for the single player is hurl-across-the-room irritating).

Which is why you move in two man groups and carry medigel. If you get seperated, your priority is linking up, not slugging it out. Flanking and positionaing are useful, but not as importantl most classes have a way to force enemies from cover (singularity, shockwave, concussive shot, etc) and if you travel light you can use you powers almost constantly. My level 13 adept recharges in just over a second and a half carrying a Avenger and Predator. I'm hoping swapping the rifle for the Locust will drop my weight even more.

As for the radar, you feel it's loss in multiplayer, but good teamwork counters that. As for single player, really? Putting it on the radials let's you pause for a second, take stock, and even make snap turns to bring an enemy into view.

Heck, with the voice control getting that snap aim and the radar are the primary reasons to go to the radials.

The stay alive thing has saved me several times,

This.  I don't mash my A button because I don't want to wreck up my controller.

Oh and groups are totally essential - solo I made it to wave 3, with a group my new level 1 Vanguard finished a Silver mission (with a group with levels spread over the range) without me dying - just a few hairy suitations.

I've been enjoying Star Trek Online a bit too much. I just hit the level cap (50) over the weekend and I'm debating whether or not to shell out the $30 bucks just to get one of the bigger cruisers. The mix of diplomatic, exploration, space combat and land combat has been enough to keep me interested.

you aren't the only one, granted I've not hit the level cap yet I'm bouncing between my fed and klingon toons, but I'm closing in on 40 with both. I find I really like the duty officer aspect to the game, and tribble breeding is fun. If I had one complaint it would be that I'm not fond of the maps. I've shelled out some money on it so far, and now I'm thinking of subbing b/c I'm enjoying so much.

i would say that epic is an understatement. this is the exact kind of trailer bioware do best. they need to do cgi feature films.

OMG I can't wait for ME3! I'm avoiding the demo b/c I don't want any spoilers, but it's killing me not to play it just for the mp aspect.

Cruisers are fun to play. But if you're planning on running Elite STFs, please consider getting either the Defiant or Prometheus instead.

Well, you don't have to play the single-player component. Speaking of which, I'm disappointed the scar option seems to have been removed from character generation.
