i managed to complete the story on Skyrim today.

Thank you for the lack of spoilage. Remember folks, many of us play for story, and absolutely do not want to know before we get there ourselves. Smiley

I finally had the chance to play (a very wee bit) of Skyrim last night, and it's as rad as I thought it would be.

I keep finding myself trying to turn on my Pip Boy light, though. Wink

Play a Khajiit - it's even better then a Pip Boy light. Wink

Now that I've had a little bit of free time - I've played a pure Mage for about 30 hours and not completed any real quests yet, so this morning decided to give some of the new combat options a whirl and tackle some actual quests (as a new Khajiit Assassin*) rather then just cruising about.

Also, surely I can't be alone in pondering how each of the races (and some of the perks) would look in an FC framework?  If I get hit with the inspiration stick I might throw something into License to Improvise (unless someone else wants to).

* I know there's no classes, but I like to cluster my perks and go for an archtype, much like the way I tabletop games.

THIS I found most vexing: the sheer volume of mechanics and effects borrowed from Fallout 3.
I could not unsee.
Also, Dark Souls. Still good. Worth a try, for the moods, the environments, and the combat.

Well, both games are made by Bethesda.

That ship sailed with your original pitch, I'm afraid. When the primary reason to play a game is that "it's hard," I'm not the target market.

skyrim is perfectly capable of standing on its own. i finished my first playthrough of the main quest not long ago. it has a good story, great character models, and some of the most beutiful scenery of any game to date. this one dungeon is one of the better examples, cant remember what it is called though it is one of the largest in the game.

I've only seen the very first one (that you're sent to from the first town - that should be non-spoilery enough), and it was unreal. Simply gorgeous.

I could not unsee.

I go the other way, myself.  Fallout 3 had so many things that were done better then Morrowind and Oblivion in my opinion, and building on what worked there has made Skyrim head and shoulders above it's current gen predecessors.  If it had some of the weapons that were taken out between Morrowind and Oblivion I'd be completely chuffed, but there's been talk of big DLC, so it's a definite possibility.  I actively hope that Fallout 4 is "Skyrim with guns" (the way the detractors of Fallout 3 claimed it was "Oblivion with Guns").

In fact, just about the only negative comment I have about the entire game is that there isn't any current effects trackers on your HUD.  If there was a way to see how much longer your Muffle potion was going to last (the way Morrowind had small countdown icons, and Oblivion had the icons in the top right with a bar), then the game would be basically perfect in my opinion (going to the magic screen to check active effects is annoying, but not annoying enough to tarnish my enjoyment of the game).

Has anyone seen the pics where someone explored out of the map and the entire of Tamriel is mapped?  Here is his Tumblr if you haven't.  It doesn't have any spoilers, but is kinda interesting - and really makes me wonder why Bethesda would map the entire continent when you can't access beyond Skyrim's boarders?  Obviously DLC rumours abound after that was discovered...

Self-pity fest deleted. It's all good game in the end, right?
Besides I'll probably buy Skyrim once the price drops and the mod community is in full swing.
Terrific, creative, mind-boggling things are sure to result.

Although I do still moon over The Ultimates. T'was terrific fun. Rumor has it SFA might make a comeback, and my curiosity is piqued.

Dead Island popped up for $19.99.  I'm not sure I can resist at that price...

so it seems dragon age may be getting a multiplayer component, this is something i wanted in the first one, and would like to see if it is anything like the old nwn multiplayer where it plays off of custom content from the community.

Finally got around to playing Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

750 GS points in one playthrough! 300 of which comes from just 3 achievements! Woo!
