Side note:  Why is EVERYONE going Bounty Hunter?  I've had to switch my character planning to Imp. Agent.
Because shooting mooks with a dart that waits a moment before exploding and jacking their buddies Never Gets Old.  There probably is more, but I haven't played that much.  (Though I can make rude comments on the ranges of blaster rifles in the galaxy far far away.)

Unless The Dark Side is quantifiably sexier, I'm plenty comfortable Defending the Republic from atop a mound of empty repeating-blaster belts.
I could be sold one some sexy Zabrack with facial tattooing, sure, but if there's not a lot of that the BH thing isn't that attractive.

I have been playing with stuff I won't see for quite some time, and will poke at stuff I may never see.  I'm no fan of the Jedi, but the Sith just...  *snarl*  I was disappointed there was no plan to add a way to change factions, as I would much rather be taking bounties for the Republic.  When I get around to a Bounty Hunter after the game goes live, I'll be thwarting the Empire as much as I can.

Hey all. Interesting thread on SWtOR. I hadn't realized so many of this community were involved. I'm a Long time MMOer (started EQ in the 1st month it was out). I've tried more MMOs over the years than I care to count (though the original Star Wars MMO's skill based progression system I is still think was one of the best systems) and currently play WoW since its where all my RL friends play. Overall, I'm pretty bored with WoW (and starting to think with MMOs altogether). However, I heard a lot of interesting news about the SWtOR system so I jumped in on the next Beta run but had a few questions for those who've already betad.

1) This latest beta release key - is it only a 1 weekend shot or is it a regular open beta where you can just log in whenever you have the time?

2) Does anyone have a real description of the difference between the Jedi Knight/Counselor (or the sith variation)?  Looking over the Wiki, the information is so generic its kind of hard to get a real feel for the difference in play style between them.

3) Has anyone tried any of the "healer" options? Any opinions on how well they work?

1)  So far the beta times have been weekends.  Release is in a month, so I don't think that will change.

2)  A couple videos have indicated that the Sith Inquisitor is a stealth character, WoW rogue-like.

3)  No idea.

3.)  From what I've seen, which isn't arguably a lot as I just haven't had the time to grind through a normal beta pass (I got one.. but sadly wasn't able to do alot with it... damnable work.).. You're never a dedicated 'healer' like in say EQ or WoW.  I was a Druid in WoW from Launch to Cata.  Treeform and auto-snooze is not the way of SWTOR. lol.  You don't just sit back and heal all day.  You fight a bit.. heal when needed.. then jump back into the battle.

2. Jedi Knight/Sith Warrior can wear heavy armor.   One of the AC is a tank, Guardian and Juggernaut.  The other  is a damage dealer (Sentinel and Marauder).
Jedi Counselor/Sith Inquistor wears light armor.   One AC is tank/damage (Shadow and Assassin).    The other is damage/support/heal.  (Sage and Sorcerer)

The tanking styles between the two are also very different.  Mitigation vs avoidance.

I wouldn't say pure fail.  Like the idea, but what they are proposing for an implementation I don't care for.

Okay.. I should have worded that better.  The implementation scheme I regard as pure fail.  I love the concept.. not the execution.  If it was like.. "You're all part of a Fate / Clan / Mafia".. fine.  But tying it to the surname.. so.. the sith warrior had fun with the human soldier and gave birth to the twi'lek smuggler???
