Content lag.  Not sure on.  I don't know what they're using for virtualization... but with reported budget I'm not over worried on this one.

By "content lag," I mean "production lag." Voice work is not fast, nor is it cheap. They can't just drop new missions in over a few weekends  - that's what I'm sayin'. Wink

Ooooooh.  See.. you say lag.. I immediately turn into Latency. Server Virtualization?  Bandwith?  Memory leak?  Processor choke?  *brain implosion*  But yeah.. on the 2nd part.. I can see where your hesitation is.  But.. I'm still hopeful.

Well, my last "mmo" experience was in the form of MUDs and let's just say that my expectations are probably A LOT lower than those of people who've enjoyed well-run games with extravagancies like graphical user interfaces in the past 10-15 years. Smiley

OTOH, I'm also highly skeptical of being able to put together even four passably sane people to run flashpoints, never mind up to the 16 for the Operations. >_<

I know where you're coming from. I've played more than a few MMOs now and my luck recruiting strangers for raids in all of them has been... let's charitably call it "poor."

I've also played through a few Flashpoints now - maybe three - and all of them have gone swimmingly. I'm not sure if it's because the game's still new and folks haven't been able to build up the biases that plague other games, or if the primary ways you interact with the missions is different (and exclusionary - your interactions don't necessarily impact those of anyone else, with the single exception of rare drops).

I can see drops turning into the big issue for Flashpoints actually, as the rules there are pretty much identical to WoW's, but again, there wasn't an issue in any of my runs.

There is a big chunk of replay.  Speaking as one who spent years playing WoW regularly and managed to avoid having more than one 85:  I'm looking forward to leveling more than one character.  (I probably should have spent some time playing classes I'm not normally thinking about, but oh well.)

I am pleased to hear that the Bioware folks plan on spending time upgrading the starting areas.  Perhaps folks will get more for their (our) $15/month than we have in the past?

I think so.  I played an IA/Op and a SI/Assasin this weekend as I'm going to start on Republic side in Dec.   I have to say, that I will play ever character to see every story out there.

They have already posted that they have started on post launch content.

Very SC2 grunt like.  And... yeah.. that's why I'm playing an Imp. Agent.  So soldiers can't meet me at the door with a 75 lbs. gatling laser cannon. lol.

Mm.
Seventy-five pound gatling laser. I am intrigued. I'll miss the spraying brass, oh well.

Mass invite is for the final weekend coming up.  No dates announced.  They want to full stress their servers so everyone whose sided up for beta is getting an invite for the last weekend.

Also, you might want to watch this video:  Trooper

Not gonna lie, as a Trooper I was miffed that the Republic spent millions of credits on my training and couldn't pony up the last couple grand to equip me as well as the local militia jamokes.   Angry

(Yes, I know it is a video game staple, but at this point it has moved from trope to cliche.  There wasn't even some vague attempt to fix this.)

Speaking of Bosses.  Did anyone do Black Talon on Imperial side and think the boss(jedi at end) wasn't that big a deal.  Maybe the group I got into was just that good.  *shrug*

I'm playing Mass Effect 2 to not be completely rusty when 3 comes out in March. Have to say, it's feeling a bit dated suddenly, and I blame Deus Ex: Human Revolution for it. Suddenly notice all the small glitches and sillinesses (is that a word - it's now) that I happily ignored before, after playing Eidos Montreal's masterpiece. Never too many quality studios, so very happy.

Ahhh, good to know.
And thanks for the link. Interesting. I'm not actually that encouraged by it, but I'm glad for the chance to sample at least.
Apparently force users are going to be rather ranged damage resistant. Not a huge surprise, but I'd noticed that what few PvP encounters were depicted seemed to involve the Soldier either closing distance to melee and disabling the target before pouring fire in, or convenient combinations of knockback and cliffs people could fall off of.
