"That's one down," I say, realizing full well the.... unfortunate secondary connotation.

"We should raise the shield back up," Sam says, "because that's what I wanted to do. Without gettin' shot to shit, though."

Hulk Smash!

Well, not quite. But it is somewhat inpressive how, in his final upright moments Chris raises the broken sentry pod over his head and pile drives it at the second, knocking it sideways. It's mechanisms whining in distress, the sentry pods starts firing wildly.

Sam and the Reverend manage to leap into the back of the truck. Veronica and Andrew bunch up, so very fortuitously in the lee of the wheel and the door.

Eventually, the senty pod chatters into silence.

"Man, I should've stayed in prison, at least there there were bars between me and the crazies..." Andrew mumbles as he crawls out from under the car, looks around a second to see if there are any other surprises waiting to happen, then runs over to Chris to check on his wounds. He shouts from over his shoulder to the others "See if you can get some water from the engine, they'd help in washing off the acid!" while doing what he could to ease his pain.

I make my way over to the disabled turrets. Gotta be something I can use in those...

"Preach, see if you can get to the engine. Prolly needs to be unlocked from the cab, though."

Dirk is sitting slumped in a corner waiting for his comrades. "What took you os long?" he asks when the first one arrives, coughing a bit as they enter.

The man smiles with a manic sort of laziness, a smile that seems just that little bit too big to fit comfortably on a human face. "And at last the first sane member of your little ka-tet graces me with his presence." He reaches aside and taps a sequence into the computer at his chair's side. A chair located where the pilot and copilot seats should be.

"Tell me, did you all enjoy my little toys?"

The man pouts just a little when you don't answer his question.

"You can, Alabaster, call me Arcade."
