Well, on the positive side of that... If it does go through just think how cheap 5.56x45mm NATO ammo will get when the US dumps it's surplus.

One of those logistics considerations being that the US has more rounds of 5.56x455mm NATO stockpiled then 6.8 rounds have been made?

The US was running out of 5.56mm ammo a while back.
Consumption in Sandbox and A-stan was too great or something to that effect.

The creepy thing is that, from what I can tell, the US is the only country that views shotguns as potential front line weapons. Both historically and currently.
