This comic came out this week and I couldn't help to think of Light of Olympus....

http://www.myspace.com/pilotseason

"Journey to New Athens — a modern-day world where humans still worship the Greek Gods and the Greek Gods still meddle in the lives of men."

it's got minotaurs, Medusa, cyclops, humans, fauns, etc... all running around the city together.

the first issue centers on jack medusa a private eye, so it has a pulp noir feel to the book that i liked

they also had a few others that were interesting in the pilot season event.

Genius - is about a girl who's the kind of brilliant tactical genius, in the vein of Alexander, Napolean, etc, who only show up every couple of generations. she happens to live in south central LA, and unites the gangs against the police.

Alibi - a hitman team of two twin brothers, who always commit the perfect job,  and are always suspects, but nobody can prove it, until someone learns their secret.

Napoleon was a tactical genius?

I just thought he had the advantage of being just slightly more organized and ambitious than some others of his era. It doesn't take a fracking genius to duplicate what he did. For me, the thing that separates the great military commanders from the good ones is that the great ones can check their egos in at the door before going out to battle.

I'd say Napoleon was a brilliant commander and strategist. If he had any genius, it was in taking elements that already existed and combining them to form his La Grande Armée and roll over most of the rest of Europe.

One of Napolean's great faults was the same that many made ... attacking Russia in the fall which leads to winter and the loss of the army...

Other than that some of his strategies are still used to day.

genius was probably the wrong word for him, but she's in the vein of those once in a great while military commanders who leave a mark on the world for history to talk about.

I can go along with that. He was a great military commander until his ego got the best of him.

He should have played Risk.  Grin
